To me, though, it's somewhat uncommon, and very beautiful. (and I like Jennifer too.)

No, haven't seen any baby Jennifers.
Currently, the trend in my (French-speaking) community is to use English names. Sometimes spelled in an unlikely way...I think parents just hear them, and reproduce them phonetically.
Alexandre is the boy name of choice, has been for a few years now. Girls' names, as always, more varied.
