I wouldn't be too upset about meeting a little boy named Basil, prn. BAY-zuhl, but I can't say I be thrilled about it on a girl, no matter how you prn. it. BUT, Basil (as in the spice) rhymes with Hazel, so I suppose it's not that far-fetched. And it could definitely be worse. :b BTW, I much prefer the BAZ-uhl pronunciation, for a boy, and with the nn Bas/Baz. :)
