She's the daughter of Brian Wilson
And Brian is best known as one of the Beach Boys.
Carnie herself is a singer, and is in the group Wilson Phillips, composed of Carnie, sister Wendy Wilson, and friend Chynna Phillips. Their only major hit was "Hold On" ("... hold on for one more day..." may ring a bell).
In addition to the above, Carnie was famous for being the "fat one" of her group. Over time, she grew past fat into morbidly obese. Afraid for her life, she decided to have gastric bypass surgery to shrink her stomach... and broadcasted it live over the Internet, where 50,000 people watched. Notwithstanding the strangness of that last part, she subequently lost a huge amount of weight, something like over 200 pounds irrc.
Carnie's IMDb entry says that Brian originally wanted to name her Carnation, but ultimately shortened the name to Carnie.
