Trendy-sounding...funny. It is a common name in Ireland, but not trendy. Thanks for the input =)

I love that name! It's my favourite Irish girls' name, I've had Aisling Kathleen in my top ten for a while now. And I think the sibset works well together.

I love Aisling. Caoimhe is too complicated for me ;) but nice sound. Shea sounds like Shay, so it sounds trendy to me...

Hehehe I don't think I have ever had a negative reaction to one of your names, Link, and I am not changing that this time (I am so predictable). IMO your taste in names is impeccable!
I adore Aisling...I prefer Aislinn just because I think it looks nicer, and I say Aisling as ASH-lin anyway so it makes no difference. Either way it is the same name and I think it is gorgeous!

lol. one day i'll pick a name that you don't like, and that's how i'll know i've lost the plot! Can't decide between Aislinn or Aisling. I think you may be right about the aesthetics of it though. Anyhow, it's my new favorite for the sibset and DH likes it too! Now I just have to convince him to have another baby hehe =)

Not a problem in Ireland!
Pronounciation for the general american public is not my concern. Most people on this board know that. I'm Irish. Pronounciation and spelling are not an issue. Anglecizing Irish names on the other hand, is an issue for me as I believe the meaning of the name, and the history of the name are lost.

There is no letter "v" in Gaelic. In this case the "mh" combination makes the "v" sound.

As it's not a Gaelic-speaking place you're living in, pronunciation should be a concern. It is the child, more than yourself, who'd have to deal with her name being pronounced wrongly 99% of the time. I imagine that'd be a great, great nuisance to her, and probably not worth any name, however beautiful. (Which Caoimhe and Aisling are.)
There are intact (unanglicised) Irish names that are more pronouncable than these. Even living in Scotland, there are Gaelic names I shy away from just because of spelling.

No, I really don't. They're just not my style. But if you like them, that's what matters, and it seems like they're from your heritage. Or not. You might just like Irish names. Whatever. It's your choice...they're just not for me. =)
