[Opinions] Re: Current Female Long List- Destroy! Roast! Tear down and rebuild!
in reply to a message by Dianatiger
These are the ones that I would personally keep! I was going by names I like and ones that I could envision on an actual child.
Annora
Bianca
Breanne
Celestine
Celina
Cosette
Daisy
Daphne
Diana
Edessa (though I prefer Odessa a lot more)
Enid (definitely an old lady name though)
Estella
Felicity (American Girl vibes)
Flora
Florence
Francesca
Genevieve
Grace
Guinevere
Ilaria
Isadora
Isannah
Lavender
Lavinia
Liora
Lucelia
Mabel
Margery
Marguerite
Marie-Claire
Marigold
Marina
Meadow
Michella
Mira
Morwenna
Nimue
Noelle
Nova
Opal
Seraphina
Serena
Sophie
Summer
Winter
As for ones I'd definitely recommend taking off:
Zara (clothing store)
ad astra Adastra.. simply depends on if you want a kid to be named "to the stars" in Latin.
Brindle, like the fur pattern on a dog or cat?
I would definitely take Hermione off. It's just SO ubiquitous to HP.
Lelia just doesn't sound nice. LEE-LEE-uh
Nymeria is a much more subtle reference, but I do only associate it with Game of Thrones.
I would probably replace Ottavia with Octavia just in terms of potential misspellings and mispronunciations which would be a headache to deal with.
Theodosia is pretty, but I feel like everyone will assume the kid's parents are huge Hamilton musical fans.
No to Vada, in some languages (Czech) it literally means "flaw" as a noun
