TBH I had assumed you had misused the word as well, because you didn't include an explanation. It's not an unreasonable conclusion.

...but I guess I'm very curious and would instinctively search for information on BtN if a poster stated something about a name that I didn't immediately understand.

It wouldn't have killed you to include a few words of explanation in your original post. Most of us don't routinely click on names you or anybody else post about, and fewer still do on-the-spot off-site research.

"Most of us", that's a strange thing to say. Since we are all name nerds I'd also assume those replying would take the couple seconds it takes to look up a name before commenting on it.

I believe Wordsmith was simply hooked on their tone due to the very strong, impolite wording they tend to use. Nothing against them, of course.
