I think it is very pretty. However, it has the same issues as Ilene.
The capital "i" plus the lowercase "L" together is often hard to distinguish.
That aside, I think that Ilona is perfectly suited for a kid today. It's simple, has a history of usage, yet is not very common even though it has a trendy feel to it.
