I literally yawned. No joke. It bores me to no end. So does Sophia. I wouldn't use it. No one is making me.

I love Sophie. She is definitely a lot more appealing than the princess-y Sophia to me. It is a little boring for my tastes- I know quite a few Sophies ranging in age from late 20s to little girls. I actually know more Sophies than Sophias so it seems slightly more common to me.

I have always thought Sophie is cute, but it is extremely popular here (with both people and pets), moreso than even Sophia (bilingual English/French speaking area). So yeah, it's pretty boring and safe to me...common to the point of mundane, unfortunately. Have you considered Sylvie, a more unexpected choice with a similar feel? I adore Sylvie!

I think Sophie and Sophia are both really beautiful names. Do you seriously not know any Sophies? I know at least three. If I had to use Sophie, I'd have Clara, Violet, Helena, Aurora or Juliet as a middle name.

I love Sophie because it is my most adored, most adorable little cousin's name (she was born in 1998). But honestly, it's never been my favorite name, my cousin-Soph associations aside. It's always sounded like a little poodle's name...one who sits on a chintz covered stool and is owned by some really old cranky lady.

I've been really digging Sophie lately as well. There's something so friendly and approachable about Sophie vs. Sophia. It feels lived in (if that makes sense). I've even gone to the effort of making a few combos for myself:

I've always loved Sophie but I can't stand Sophia! Sophie is adorable and although it's been popular on charts in many countries I only know two IRL. One is Sophie Grace, and she's about 12. The other is Sofie Catherine, and she's 20.

Funny, to me spelling Sophy is much more silvery-pink-princess-fairy than Sophie. Sophie is a bit boring and sort of ...grandmother-ly. But in a good way! I'm liking Sophie Adora right now.

I actually hate Sofie, but I like Sophie. Sofie is about 4 times more common here, so Sophie seems quite fresh and "new". I don't find it princess-y, even though a lot of princess's seems to be named Sophie in movies etc. I don't really find it boring either. I'm neutral about it I guess.

Sophie gives me a very different image, that of a very serious girl who is old beyond her years. I see muted blues and greys.

It's become a little too popular for me to see it as interesting or fresh. I still like it, but I'm hearing it too much. To spice it up, I might do Sophie Adelaide or Sophie Helena.

I was thinking about Sophie today, too! It is really quite lovely. I know a fair few, there were a LOT at my school and I still like it. It just seems so gentle and sweet. And I fancy the idea of an old lady Sophie.

These mostly play into my fantasy of Sophie as a retired French patissier. She now lives on the coast, painting and baking exquisite biscuits for local children, of course :P

It's been in the top 100 here since the 70s and top 10 since the 90s - in the most recent chart it was #2. So it's pretty overdone here - yet still its powers of cute are strong enough to make me like it anyway. I know a lot of them, though, so I don't think I'd use it.
I think freshening it up would probs have to involve conjoining it to something really startlingly unusual, maybe hyphenating, but I can't think of anything good atm, just silly

Sophie sounds so sweet and cheerful. It's popular these days, but I don't find it too boring. One of my teachers from high school is named Sophie. We got along well and are still in touch, so I have a good association with the name. She's friendly and sophisticated. The name suits her well.
