I have a cousin with this name and it is also the name of my ex's little boy, so I have very positive associations with it. Plus I'm a fan of Scottish names anyway. I have never thought about the ham thing because it isn't pronounced like that, same as my name is Sophie and I've never thought about how it contains the word sop.
