Well, while Emmerich still lives on as a surname, it's all but extinct as a given name in Germany. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that many people, especially those who are not interested in names, probably won't even recognize it as a first name. I don't know if that's important to you or not, so I'm just saying ;-)
