Aw, what a shame. And "dollymops" sound so cute as a nn. I know, I know. I'd never use it knowing what it really means. But it is a shame.
It's the same way I feel about Eudoxia. Great name, but the best nn, Doxie (sp?), is another old fashioned name for a prostitute.

Exactly! Doxie does sound cute.I have the same association with Jade...
I learned about dollymops in a social history course. They were the women who came to big cities (usually) and turned to occasional prostitution to make ends meet when they had no other employment.
