These names are pretty common in my family; for example, my father has got 2 cousins named
Wilhelm (they're in their 40's), my grandfather has got a brother named
Wilhelm, and so on. Same thing for the name
Arnold.
Because those names are pretty frequent in my family, I don't really view them as old-fashioned (especially
Wilhelm). But then I saw that these names weren't in the top 10 list of the most popular names in Germany (I wasn't really surprised that
Arnold wasn't listed, but mildly surprised to see that
Wilhelm wasn't listed). So I wondered. :-)
I don't live in Germany myself, so I don't know much about the popularity of names there (only know these things about my own country, the Netherlands).
Anyway - thanks for your reply,
Satu! :-)
Greetings,
Lucille
