[Opinions] Re: Shoshana?
It's one of my fave Jewish names, but since I am not Jewish, I'd never use it myself.I know one one Shoshana. She was Jewish, with pale skin, blue eyes and strawberry blond hair. But I picture a dark haired, exotic girl, too.

As I always answer, in that case you should avoid names like Michael, David, Sarah, Mary... too. And "pagan" names like Roman & Frankish ones. In fact, almost all the names.

why?I wouldn't name my kid Shoshana because it is pretty much only used by Jews (which I am not). It would be like me naming my child Mohammad, even though I am not Muslim. As for Sarah, David, Michael, I would use them (well, I wouldn't because I just don't like the names Sarah and David), because they are bibilical and generally popular English names. same goes for ethnic names- while I like common names such as Kierstin (German), I'd draw the line at naming my child something like Svetlana (as beautiful as it is), because I'm not Russian.
that's just me.

Well Shoshana is Biblical too, it's even in the New Testament. I understand for Mohammed & Svetlana, because our society isn't based on it like it is based on Judaism, through Christianism or not (since our civilization is the "judeo-christian" one).
