Rose-Marie and Johann are now happily married and welcomed a son a few years back. After DS2 was born, Rose-Marie decided to become a stay-at-home mom and took up pottery in her spare time, quickly becoming quite skilled. However, the Webers face a challenge with Johann's teenage daughter Jules, who has developed a rebellious streak. On more than one occasion, Johann and Rose-Marie have caught her attempting to sneak out, and her once-strong grades have started to decline, leaving them increasingly concerned about her future. Meanwhile, Nadir, overwhelmed by the intense hours and responsibilities of his job as a marine biologist, hit a breaking point a couple of years ago. Feeling that the joy he once found in his work had vanished, he made a spontaneous decision to pack up and go to Turkey to "reconnect with his roots" for a while. What he didn’t expect was to fall head over heels for a woman he met during his first week there. After only a few months of dating, she discovered she was pregnant—with twins. Faced with this unexpected turn of events, Nadir chose to stay in Turkey to support his girlfriend and their daughters. However, back in the States, his son Altan's resentment toward his father’s sudden departure began to grow. Although Nadir arranged for Altan to visit during summers and holidays, the boy’s dismay at his father's decision remained palpable.
