Time to introduce the chickens to their coop. Which chickens breeds did you get? Choose your TWO favourites.
1) Ameraucanas (famous for laying blue eggs!)
-friendly, intelligent, curious, do well with children and are quiet. Hens lay 3-4 eggs per week-
2) Blue Andalusian
-dignified and poised, friendly and curious. They lay around three large white eggs per week-
3) Whiting True Blue
-docile, curious and friendly towards humans. Active and good flyers. The hens lay 4 blue eggs each week-
4) Isbar
-Intelligent, calm, easy going hen and good foragers. Hens will lay 3-4 green eggs each week – the depth of green can vary from light sage to moss green-
5) Austra White
-calm, docile and friendly and do well with children. They lay 4+ large eggs per week.
6) Black Copper Marans (dark chocolate colored eggs)
-Marans are gentle and quiet-
7) Cinnamon Queen
-Friendly, docile breed that is easy to handle and quiet. 5-6 eggs each week-
8) Black Star (They are technically not a breed, but a hybrid)
-docile, friendly and active breed that will become attached to their keepers. They lay of 5 light brown eggs each week-
9) Campine
-The Campine is considered critically endangered. Inquisitive, intelligent, friendly, active and loves to forage. 3 large white eggs a week-
10) Brown Leghorn
-Active, independent and intelligent chicken that can fly well. Noisy. 3-4 large white eggs each week-
11) Easter Egger (They can lay blue, olive, green and even pinkish colored eggs. Whichever color your hen lays will be the only color she lays)
-cheerful and happy, great with children-
12) Swedish Flower Hens
-Confident and independent hen but are friendly with their humans. Hens lay 3-4 medium eggs each week-
