Name The New Baby, Round 1
I'm going to copy, more or less, the game Claire H ran awhile ago (I hope that's okay!)... To play, suggest a name (or names, as specified) for the expecting families below. I'll judge the first responses (up to 15, if there's enough interest), and then post a "Round 2," like Claire H did, wherein the winning names from the first round are the names of the children, and the families are expecting a new baby. I plan to do five rounds. Have fun! :)
The Scott FamilyAndrew and Elise are expecting their first child, a boy. They have decided that the name should honor two of the baby's four grandparents: Elise's father, Charles, and Andrew's mother, Larissa.LN: ScottSO1: Andrew James (28)
SO2: Elise Hope (28)DS:----------The David-Branson FamilyHannah and Beth are adopting their first child, a baby girl from China. Her name is Yu Ling. They plan to change it, but would like to find an English name that honors her Chinese name in some way, for example, by sharing its meaning, or by having a similar sound.LN: David-BransonSO1: Hannah Marie (31)
SO2: Beth Adeline (27)DD:----------The Ridley-Cohen FamilyAlex and Naomi are expecting their fist child. They've decided to wait until the baby is born to learn the gender. Naomi would like to use a name that honors her Jewish heritage. Alex, a professor of literature, would like to use a name made famous by a book.LN: Ridley-CohenSO1: Alexander Paul (34)
SO2: Naomi Miriam (34)DD: or DS:----------The Ambrose-Reid FamilyLaura and Mark are expecting boy/girl twins. They have moderate tastes: they don't like names that are really strange or unheard of, but don't want to use extremely popular names, either. They would like the twins' names to be related without being super themey.LN: Ambrose-ReidSO1: Laura May (25)
SO2: Mark Jonathan (26)DS/DD:----------The Jameson FamilyDaniel and Brian are adopting a child from within their own country (the US). They've been matched with a pregnant mother; they'll adopt the baby as soon as it is born (they don't know the gender yet). They get to name their child, and they would like to honor the birthmother. Her name is Claire Grant. They want the name to recognize her without literally being her name.LN: JamesonSO1: Daniel Louis (30)
SO2: Brian Gregory (30)DD: or DS:-- Sarah
