The year is 1961! In 1949, the Sorrentino family made the move from Chicago, Illinois to Portland, Oregon, which was particularly difficult on Percy, who was already 16 at the time. However, it all turned out alright because while working at a local diner during his early college years, he met his future wife, a girl studying to become a teacher. After Percy finished college, the two of them moved two hours south of Portland, to Eugene. But, they do their best to visit Giuseppe and Elżbieta with their children as much as possible. After the move, Giuseppe sold his drapery business, and decided to start working as a plumber. After the owner retired, he passed the business on to Giuseppe. Elżbieta stopped working as a nurse and began working part-time as a florist to be able to spend more time with her kids, but after Aleksandra graduates, she plans to start nursing again. Theodore met his fiancée through a group of mutual friends in high school, and in the summer of 1960, Theodore flew her to Italy, where both of her parents were from as well, to propose. Charity met her boyfriend this year, however the relationship has been quite rocky, and she is not sure that it will last.
