The family has grown...by a lot. All of the Featherstone children are married with children, 8 happy, bubbly little children. It will be a madhouse, trying to care for all those children...anyway, "things" have happened. Leo, now 18, has a new friend named Phyllis, or "Pip", but everybody knows that they won't stay friends forever...anyway, let's get on with the events!
There's a secret room by the stairs that's in desperate need of a makeover. The metal door has been bolted shut for who knows how long, and the sight of seeing the rust and filth is driving the servants mad. So the whole door is torn apart. But when the family steps inside, they found something completely different than what they were expecting. There was a set of stairs that led into the darkness...when a torch was lit, the whole family found the sight before them shocking. Inside the door was a large room that looked like a cave of sorts, with gruesome writing and pictures, except for one of a little girl in a patchy brown dress and short yellow-brown hair that looked remarkably like 10-year-old Callie...what was really interesting, though, was the papers in the middle of the room. Bella picked the first one up and read it aloud. The paper was hard to read because of the old-timey language, but Bella had read enough historical things to decode it. "The next branch of Featherstones will be quite a large one. Their descendants will surely outnumber all the other families, and there will be many a situation where the family is being watched..." Creepy. The family kept going through the pile of paper until they found something very interesting... "The lover of Lavinia Featherstone had been trying for ages to have a child until they finally gave up. Then they found a baby, all alone in the woods. Lavinia and her lover declared this baby as their own and named him Evander Featherstone." The whole family is silent for a while. What could this all mean? And how are they going to cover this big secret up? The family puts up a new door, and when people visit and ask about it, they say that there's only a basement down there, but they all know the real truth...except Evander, of course.
A few months later, there's a thunderstorm sounding overhead. Everyone is inside, minding their own business when there's a loud knocking at the door. Bella goes to open it and sees a guard there. He's holding a raggedy-looking girl by the collar of her scratchy brown dress. She looks exactly like Bella's age, and she looks very feisty. The guards tried to refuse her, but she was determined to get through that door and was ultimately becoming a pest. Bella offered to take the girl inside. the girl instantly felt more relaxed. She said that her name was Lula, or "Lu" and that she was here because she needed a place to take refuge. Her parents are dead, and she ran away from her mean relatives. The family reluctantly takes in Lu, and at first, she's polite, and doesn't complain, and she envies the family and their comfortable lifestyle. Until...Lu starts whispering things, talking to the walls, and Hendric is the only one who really understands what she's saying. Cassian takes a closer look at Lu. The child has straight jet-black black hair and sharp but bright blue eyes, just like him. She looked very familiar...
Hendric goes to a faraway land with Norma and 2 of his children go on a trip to a far off country. They aren't heard from for a while, and then Norma, Clem, and Femie come home...but where's Hendric? Cassian writes a letter to the ruler of the country, for now he's getting a little desperate. The ruler sends a letter back, saying that Hendric had been put in prison...for murder! The whole family is shocked, and debate on what to do. Some of them like Callie, Bella, Leo, Bella and Leo’s mother Alouette, Farron, and Norma think that they should go and rescue Hendric. Everyone else says they don’t think that’s a good idea…while the family is bickering over what to do, Hendrix is sitting in a cold, damp, smelly cell. He hadn’t murdered anyone, really, he had just been in the wrong place at the wrong time. A hooded figure arrives at his cell. Hendric looks up, confused. The figure doesn’t say a word, just takes out a key and unlocks the cell door. The figure leads him out of the prison in the dark of night, and Hendric asks who they are. The figure doesn’t answer. They just press a gloved finger into Hendric’s hand, and the spot where it touched his skin glowed red and started to smoke. Eyes widening, Hendric looks up to ask the stranger what this could mean, but the stranger is gone. Weird…
