Say/Think/Suggest
This is obviously a variation on the Say/Think, except you're not meeting the actual child, you're meeting the excited pregnant mom & she's telling you the name she's picked out. Your mission (should you choose to accept it) is to suggest a better combo if you don't like what she's picked. :o) (Don't we wish we could do this in RL?)I'm expecting a boy. We've chosen the name Judah Rayner, nn Jude.

I'm expecting a boy. We've chosen the name Judah Rayner, nn Jude.
You say: Oh, is Rayner a family name? I've never heard it before.
You think: And I don't like it either.
You suggest: Have you thought of Jude Reiner?I'm expecting a girl. I think we're going to name her Delaney Corisande, nn Dela.
You say: That's pretty.
You think: I don't care for Delaney, and Corisande is too frilly-sounding for me.
You suggest: If you're going to call her Dela, why not use that for her name? Della Corisande would be nice, or Della Corinne.I'm having a boy. We're really religious, and have no compunction about making our beliefs public, so we're naming our son Amos Obadiah.
You say: Those are unusual names.
You think: Poor kid! Biblical names are ok, but that combo is cruel!
You suggest: How about Aaron Elijah, Jonathan Isaac, or Nathan Job? I like Aaron Elijah.I'm having a girl, and I love frilly, girly names. We're thinking of using Felicity Annis.
You say: That's nice, though Annis isn't one I'd think of as girly.
You think: Or pleasant, especially since it looks like anus.
You suggest: How about Felicity Ann or Francesca Anne?I don't know whether it's a boy or girl, so I'm going with something unisex. The baby's name, regardless of sex, will be Avery Belrose. Belrose is an old family surname.

Ooo, right for my Achilles heel!Suggesting Corinne as a mn, I mean. DD was going to be Victoria Korrine after mommy :o), but I'd nixed the idea of any little boys who were Jr. and DH protested that it wasn't fair. Hence, she became Victoria Kathleen. :o) I love Jonathan Isaac (DH's fn is John) and Kenneth Pierce sounds so strong & masculine. VERY nice suggestions! ;o) Thanks for playing. “The longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. I'm expecting a boy. We've chosen the name Judah Rayner, nn Jude.
You say: I like the nickname Jude.
You think: Judah Rayner? No flow.
You suggest: I think Jude Rayner flows better.I'm expecting a girl. I think we're going to name her Delaney Corisande, nn Dela.
You say: Corisande is beautiful!
You think: Delany... again?
You suggest: Della Corisande sounds more grown-up.I'm having a boy. We're really religious, and have no compunction about making our beliefs public, so we're naming our son Amos Obadiah.
You say: Wow! That name makes a statement!
You think: Yick. Yick, yick, yick.
You suggest: How about Anani Gera?I'm having a girl, and I love frilly, girly names. We're thinking of using Felicity Annis.
You say: That certanly is girly!
You think: Um... No. It's not.
You suggest: Felicia Amabel is even girlier!I don't know whether it's a boy or girl, so I'm going with something unisex. The baby's name, regardless of sex, will be Avery Belrose. Belrose is an old family surname.
You say: That's great!
You think: It's great if it's a boy!
You suggest: How about Annis Belrose for a gril?I'm expecting twin girls. I'm so excited, b/c I love theme-y names. They're going to be Lily Ruth and Iris Mae.
You say: Don't do that to your children
You think: Really, don't!
You suggest: Ruthia Lily and Mable Iris are names that they can live with.

New names to me.Anani is one I'm not familiar with; I quite like it! Gera, I'm afraid, is nms, but it sounds very nice with Anani. Ruthia is also a new one; did you make it up, or have you run across it before? I've never really cared for Ruth b/c I thought it needed more spice; Ruthia is great, imo! Thanks for the suggestions, and thanks for playing. :o)

I'm expecting a boy. We've chosen the name Judah Rayner, nn Jude.
You say: It's a nice combo, but Judah?
You think: I'm surprised that anyone would want to name their kid after Judah. Rayner is nice, I also like Raina / Rayna for a girl.
You suggest: How about just Jude Rayner.I'm expecting a girl. I think we're going to name her Delaney Corisande, nn Dela.
You say: How pretty!
You think: Very pretty, although the flow is a bit off.
You suggest: Delia CorisandeI'm having a boy. We're really religious, and have no compunction about making our beliefs public, so we're naming our son Amos Obadiah.
You say: That's an interesting choice
You think: But I really can't stand either name.
You suggest: Amadeo : )I'm having a girl, and I love frilly, girly names. We're thinking of using Felicity Annis.
You say: That's cute.
You think: Felicity is okay, but Annis makes me think of Anus.
You suggest: Felicity AnaisI don't know whether it's a boy or girl, so I'm going with something unisex. The baby's name, regardless of sex, will be Avery Belrose. Belrose is an old family surname.
You say: Belrose is very pretty
You think: Poor kid would probably be teased. And Avery always makes me think of Ovary.
You suggest: Emery or Emyr Belrose for a boy, Ava Belrose for a girl.I'm expecting twin girls. I'm so excited, b/c I love theme-y names. They're going to be Lily Ruth and Iris Mae.

*giggles*I must be the only one who doesn't get anus out of Annis! But I hear something resembling anus when I say Anais...go figure. :o) I LOVE your Amadeo suggestion, nn Maddy would be good, I think. Corbin (and Corin) are names that I've considered for boys as a back-handed way of honoring myself (aren't I wicked, lol?). Thanks for your great comments.

I'm expecting a boy. We've chosen the name Judah Rayner, nn Jude.
You say: That's cute
You think: Yuck!
You suggest: What about Jonah Rayner?I'm expecting a girl. I think we're going to name her Delaney Corisande, nn Dela.
You say: Delaney? That's pretty trendy now, and it's a surname.
You think: Ew
You suggest: What about Daniella Corisande?I'm having a boy. We're really religious, and have no compunction about making our beliefs public, so we're naming our son Amos Obadiah.
You say: That's...unusual.
You think: And should stay that way.
You suggest: He might get teased with such an unusual and obviously Biblical name. What about Aaron Obadiah?I'm having a girl, and I love frilly, girly names. We're thinking of using Felicity Annis.
You say: That's interesting
You think: Blech
You suggest: What about Felicity Annelise? Annis reminds me of anise seeds.I don't know whether it's a boy or girl, so I'm going with something unisex. The baby's name, regardless of sex, will be Avery Belrose. Belrose is an old family surname.
You say: Why don't you just pick out a name for each? There's no reason to give your daughter a boy name or your son a girl name.
You think: Ew, ew, ew.
You suggest: What about Avery Belrose for a boy and Ava Belrose for a girl?I'm expecting twin girls. I'm so excited, b/c I love theme-y names. They're going to be Lily Ruth and Iris Mae.

I'm expecting a boy. We've chosen the name Judah Rayner, nn Jude.
You say: That's such a handsome name!
You think: Yay, someone who actually knows how to pick good names!
You suggest: Julian is also a nice way to get the nickname Jude. (I'd say that more as a casual comment than as a suggestion, because I like Judah too.)I'm expecting a girl. I think we're going to name her Delaney Corisande, nn Dela.
You say: That's nice.
You think: When did Delaney become a first name?
You suggest: Dela is pretty. It could almost stand on its own. Have you thought about Delia?I'm having a boy. We're really religious, and have no compunction about making our beliefs public, so we're naming our son Amos Obadiah.
You say: That's neat. I love old-fashioned names.
You think: Amos... really rubs me the wrong way. And while I usually like old-fashioned names, I can't see Obadiah on anyone under sixty.
You suggest: My favorite Biblical names are Abel and Jedidiah. *hint hint*I'm having a girl, and I love frilly, girly names. We're thinking of using Felicity Annis.
You say: Felicity Agnes? Oh, Annis. That's nice.
You think: I must have the mentality of a ten-year-old boy. I don't think I could ever bring myself to name my daughter something that even remotely resembles the word "anus," no matter how legitimate it is.
You suggest: I like Agnes.I don't know whether it's a boy or girl, so I'm going with something unisex. The baby's name, regardless of sex, will be Avery Belrose. Belrose is an old family surname.

Good suggestion *changes combo*I'm personally not terribly fond of Delaney as a fn. It's ok, but it is a bit too surnamey for my taste. Delia Corisande, though, that's a keeper! And I was LOL at your Annis and Avery Belrose comments. ;oD Honestly, I don't get anus out of it, but if you do, I'm sure others do, too. It's supposed to honor my grandmother, Inez, but I don't like Inez (or Agnes, sorry). Annis was the closest I could come. :o) I love your whole "actual thoughts" thing. I'd probably be thinking that the person is an idiot, too, but I rarely post it like that. You crack me up!Are you serious about Jasmine and Yasmine? Are they prn the same? I know a Puerto Rican girl whose name is spelt Yasmine, but it's prn Jasmine...Anyway, thanks so much for playing. I enjoyed reading your responses.“The longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. I'm dead serious about Jasmine and Yasmine, I'm afraid. Fortunately, they're not pronounced the same, although apparently in some languages they are. Her exact words, I kid you not, were, "We thought it would be cute, because, you know, they're twins!"I'm not sure how many people would get anus out of Annis; I think I just watch too much Family Guy. It is a pretty name, regardless, and I like it better than Inez.I'm glad you liked my comments. :)

*grins*I love Cole, but unfortunately, it's my BIL's son's name. Phoebe Carissa is just absolutely gorgeous! How do you do it? :o) And Emmett and Ezekiel are great. Not fond of Kohl (it's the same as Cole, but I just don't like the spelling). Kieran is very nice. You think: But why with Belrose?

Seth is a name I've had on the back burner for a while; Benjamin Seth sounds great! ;o) Felicity Lauren is pretty, but I prefer Laurel. I'd never have thought if it before you suggested Lauren! I don't like Eden for a boy (although I suppose it's really unisex since it'a a garden, but still). I do like Eben (sorry, I just love Eben and the way it rhymes with Evan) Isaac. I'm not big on nns as fns, but Charles Pierce sounds very classy to me. You have some great suggestions. Thanks! :o)“The longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men.
