DS [dec] Prince James Constantine of England***King George has succumbed to illness, passing away four years ago.Queen Lucy donned her mourning dresses, and was indeed saddened by the death of her husband, but she knew England needed a fresh breath. While (mostly thanks to her), the country was functional, the people were growing tired of a king who, even in his last days, preferred his ale to his subjects. However, the queen mother now had matters even more pressing than unofficially running the country - finding a wife for her son, 23 year old Edmund, and soon-to-be king as quick as possible, preferably before his coronation, which was to take place a fortnight after King George's death.Edmund wasn't particularly moved by the king's death. He had always been closer to his mother, and despite not wishing his father ill, he was very keen to become king. One drawback of being the monarch was the fact one was expected to marry, and there were few things Edmund would rather do less.A week or so after his father's death, the Baron and Baroness of Montgomery, acquaintances of the Queen, arrived with consolations and their daughter, Mary, who at age 20 was practically a spinster as far as they were concerned. Lady Mary was a tall woman with striking features, who exclusively showed affection to dogs, horses, the abstract concept of England, and her Norwegian handmaiden. With their ambition, patriotism, and complete lack of attraction to each other, Edmund and Mary were a match made in heaven, and had gotten married in three days time. They agreed to produce a few children to avoid suspicions arising from the fact that Mary's handmaiden wears dresses just as fine as the Queen, and that the King's closest friend has been named Duke.Princess Sigrid, who was born a year into Edmund and Mary's marriage, is a sprightly and intelligent young girl, who, if the marriage doesn't produce a son, is sure to make a great queen.
