Max, Luka and Octavia are delighted to have little Kade join the family. He is a bundle of energy who is into everything. His echolalia has given Octavia the nickname "Taytay" which seems to have stuck within the family circle, not that she minds one bit as she is completely in love with her younger brother! The family are enjoying spending time as a foursome, taking Kade to local museums and parks where he can name every dinosaur bone on exhibition. From experience, Max knows her son is showing early signs of ASD but by keeping him at home with her for a few months to get him settled before putting him into childcare, Max hopes that some TLC and accommodation will help support Kade's needs.
Luka takes Kade swimming at least four times a week, it is a time that the youngster feels completely free and he shows a fantastic aptitude for water-based activities. The family have decorated Kade's new bedroom a warm orange and furnished it modestly with dim lights and few contrasting colours. They've brought him a gymnastic balance ball and nipple cushion and after slowly introducing these, Kade is learning to use these in order to stimulate awareness of self rather than rocking.

Evie's younger sister and her partner died when a flash flood swept through the small town they lived in. Their son Orson was visiting his grandparents at the time, but they didn't feel equipped to take care of him long-term, so Len and Evie happily took him in. They go to a therapist Len knows through work with him twice a week for now, and will be singing him up for baseball once the season starts.
He has attached himself to Xander, and can frequently be found in his room with one of his books, but finds his new sisters [especially Kate] aggravating.
Xander did end up moving down to the basement, which they renovated so he had proper space, and he often has friends over. He is currently attending John Hopkins University, and is pursuing a teaching degree.

Aicha got named Soraya after her mother and Rosemary after her grandmother. They both kept their Fns as they were so used to them and Suraya and Morgan thought they worked just fine in every day life in an English speaking area.

Adele was distant at first, annoyed by her much longer new siblings and wary of her overly cheery parents, and she wondered why they had chosen to adopt her. After about three months she was released from community service duties and she started opening up to her new parents about her previous home life. Everard and Morwenna never stopped inviting Adele to join them in their various games and activities and, after months, Adele accepted. She and Morwenna have bonded over long walks outdoors when they play Adele's favorite songs, pick flowers, and forget about the world. The Heaths are loving their busy, expanding household. Amity, Owen, and Koda have started school, but Rylan and Eluned don't want to overwhelm Joyeuse too soon after she came. They're hoping to start her in kindergarten the next school year.
The kids don't let their language barriers get in the way of communication as the new additions work on learning English. They'll talk to the other kids in French, who will talk to them in Spanish, and they'll all get excited when they recognize cognates. Eluned speaks English to all of them to help them learn it, though she's never sure what languages she'll be answered in - including by her husband, who often translates for the kids.
Amity is thrilled to have a sister to join her in particular, and Joy is slowly warming up to her, though sometimes overwhelmed by her overwhelming overtures of friendship. She's more at peace with Owen, probably because he's usually just a lot more chill, which does make Amity a little jealous. Rey is settling in a bit more easily, and is excited by most new things and by all the people that are happy to play with or entertain them.
Ricky and El have been discussing having another natural child as well, as they definitely love having a big family, but they're also happy to keep just adding to it with adoption.

The kids don't let their language barriers get in the way of communication as the new additions work on learning English. They'll talk to the other kids in French, who will talk to them in Spanish, and they'll all get excited when they recognize cognates. Eluned speaks English to all of them to help them learn it, though she's never sure what languages she'll be answered in - including by her husband, who often translates for the kids.
Amity is thrilled to have a sister to join her in particular, and Joy is slowly warming up to her, though sometimes overwhelmed by her overwhelming overtures of friendship. She's more at peace with Owen, probably because he's usually just a lot more chill, which does make Amity a little jealous. Rey is settling in a bit more easily, and is excited by most new things and by all the people that are happy to play with or entertain them.
Ricky and El have been discussing having another natural child as well, as they definitely love having a big family, but they're also happy to keep just adding to it with adoption.

Priya has very strong emotions, especially when it comes to her biological brother, and likes to color in Disney princess coloring books. She also has quite the imagination and will often play solo with her dolls for hours, acting out various scenarios.

A little bit over three months ago Dylan and Ashley brought home their two daughters from Moldova after a nearly seven months long and exhausting adoption process. Andreea is six and Raluca, who goes by Luca, is five. As Zak and Rasim the girls came into the family with their own challenges. Their bond is very close, which is understandable given their situation, but it took weeks until they were ready to let anyone in. Andreea is the leader of the two and people pleaser, Dylan and Ashley work hard with her to teach her that it's okay to say ones own opinion instead of saying what she thinks they want to hear. It's a long road ahead, but they already celebrated some small victories. Luca is the quiet one of the girls, she and her pink stuffed bunny are inseparable. Having an older sister with dyslexia Ashley noted the signs that Luca has been showing really early on and they found a wonderful therapist who works with Luca every week.
The boys needed also some time to adjust, especially Zak who has been thrown of after the family grew from four to six. There have been also some signs of jealousy from Rasim, but Dylan and Ashley tried their hardest to spend some alone time with all their kids to make them feel special. Now when Luca is getting out of her "boys are cooties phase" and the girls are getting used to being a part of a family all is settling down in the Hawthorne family. Especially the weekend mornings when the whole family gathers in the kitchen and they all prepare breakfast together are moments that Dylan and Ashley will treasure forever.
