Esmeralda, a dark-haired Cuban-American girl, met Sasha, a fair-haired boy with a Russian mother and a Serbian father, while they were still in high school. Esmeralda, born in the U.S. to two immigrants, had just been informed that her parents were granted U.S. citizenship. At that moment, she decided to discontinue her homeschooling and attend the same public school as Sasha. The two met in Esmeralda's junior year, Sasha's senior year.
Flash-forward five years, and the two were planning a wedding. Esmeralda was one of six children, all girls, so her ten bridesmaids consisted of her five sisters, Sasha's two sisters, and three long-time friends. Sasha's niece was the flower girl, and the ring bearer was Esmeralda's close friend's son. The two married in a quaint little church in Northern Texas, and they still live in Northern Texas. Esmeralda now works as a first-grade teacher while Sasha works as a dental assistant at his father's dentistry office.
