After a long space of time, this Gondorian family is growing up, and starting to grow again. Beridîr, who had become a healer, started spending a lot of time with one of his patients, a beautiful young lady of the city, even after she was healed. They have recently announced their engagement. Merileth has grown up more scholarly, fascinated with the history of their world and wanting to see more of it. The twins, meanwhile, both take more after their father's martial career. Gloriel's parents aren't as sure about her being involved in such things, but with the Steward's wife a shieldmaiden it's certainly socially acceptable, if rare. Fortunately there is no threat of real war to give them something to worry about like in the past.

The Stark children have all now seen their first winter, though fortunately not as bad as some have been. When spring returns and travel between the North and the rest of the kingdoms is more doable again, a marriage is arranged between Saera and the son of a great noble family of Westeros. Soon she will be leaving the North behind. Howland and Kennit have begun learning the arts of knighthood, and Howland in particular the skill he will need for becoming lord of Winterfell himself one day. Clemmon is eager to join when he is large enough.

Yarrow has shown quite a compassionate streak growing up, taking in a stray half-starved dog one day, and continuing to take out tesserae to feed her family.
