When Riniya Bluefrost showed up at the palace claiming that young Rankin was Airdan's son, no one believed her. The fact that Rankin had been given the name Icefrost rather than Blackfrost proved that if Riniya truly thought he was the king's son she hadn't yet suspected it at the time of his birth. That Airdan barely recognized her made it seem even more unlikely that her claim was true. Even so, there was enough doubt to make him consider at least raising the child. Soora was somewhat suspicious of her husband, but even she was not entirely convinced.
Despite the royal family's attempt to keep the whole matter quiet, news of Rankin's arrival leaked out to the public. Their reaction was similar to that of the queen, slightly suspicious but overall unbelieving of Riniya's claim. The most shocking part, for most, was that Airdan chose to raise Rankin. Better for the royalty to raise a commoner than for a prince to live on the streets, he said. The couple is not, however, adopting or claiming the child or making him their heir.
