LaRe's Royal Congrats: Round 1
Welcome to the very first round of LaRe's Royal Congrats! Well, excluding the sign-ups, of course, but who's counting? Not me, certainly.
Keep in mind that you are allowed to change the spelling of each name suggested, especially if necessary to fulfil your respective themes.
The Prompt
Ere long after the marriage is settled, someone comes up bringing a small boy to the royal couple, claiming him to be the Monarch's illegitimate son! What's more, said child's parent is dying of an incurable illness, and is hoping that the Monarch will acknowledge and adopt, or at least, provide for the child. But are they lying, and is the boy truly the Monarch's son? How does everyone react to this discovery? And most importantly, how is the Consort reacting to this?

Monarch: Ciprian Juris Leighton Adelino Xavia
Consort: Dariena Lys [Airelen] Xavia
S: Crispyn Leamon Domenick Xavia
Of the illustrious Royal House of: Xavia
In the Kingdom of: Bejagat
It wasn't until a month after the wedding that Ciprian and Dariena made their first public appearance together. They brought along a handful of capable bodyguards and still managed to rather enjoy themselves. It was an annual festival the city of Alinan had each year to celebrate the national arts (Alinan was known for great theatre and music).
Ciprian kept Dariena by his side almost the entire night and they actually surprised themselves with the amount of fun they had. There were a few cold responses toward Dariena, but most citizens either didn't care or were too afraid to oppose their King's decisions in his presence.
"This is delicious," Ciprian complimented a man mixing drinks as he passed the cocktail to Dariena to taste. "Try this. Would you like one?"
Dariena took a sip and nodded. "Yes, thank you." Ciprian got another for Dariena and another for Finlo and they made their way over to where they would be seeing a production being put on by a highly touted cast of artists from all over the country. Dariena noticed an actor that had garnered much fame in her country years before.
"I know him," she motioned with her cup toward the man. “Jorson Bromilin- he used to perform with a troupe from Menx. He was amazing."
"I look forward to seeing him then. The leading lady did a production of Xylintine's Cradle after the war that was so beautiful it made the whole crowd weep. Together, they should make us proud."
Dariena smiled and turned toward the stage. They were sitting on the third row. (The first two were usually reserved for the disabled and the first on the wings for saved for the children.) Ciprian had requested the seats he wanted and Mácsen had made sure to arrive early and say a nice word to the heads of the production company doing the show that evening.

King: William Theodore II "Theo"
Queen: Sylvia Grand
Of the illustrious Royal House of: William
In the Kingdom of: Serronia
Crown Prince William Theodore II was recently crowned king of Serronia. His father, King William Theodore I was king over Serronia for many years following a large scale revolution. After fifteen tumultuous years, things settled into a peaceful, stable sort of normalcy. Crown Prince Theo was born twenty years ago--first child of the house of William.
When King William I died unexpectedly after falling from his horse, Prince Theo was crowned King of Serronia. Three months after his coronation, the people are starting to ask when King Theo will be wed.
After two months of putting off the inevitable, King Theo announced his engagement to Sylvia Grand. Sylvia, while a beautiful woman, is also the daughter of one of King William's greatest rivals. After six weeks of protests and the occasional riot, King Theo announced that he and Sylvia were going to marry despite public opinion. After swearing loyalty to the kingdom of Serronia, King Theo and Sylvia were married in a simple, quiet ceremony.
King Theo and Queen Sylvia met by chance on one of King Theo's quiet rides through the countryside. Both King and Queen are tight-lipped about the exact circumstances under which they met; however, popular rumor holds that the two of them have been carrying on a secret courtship for years.

King: William Theodore II "Theo"
Queen: Sylvia Grand
Ward: Frederick Lawrence
Of the illustrious Royal House of: William
In the Kingdom of: Serronia
Six months into their marriage, King Theo and Queen Sylvia were both very surprised when one of the servants informed them that someone was at the door with a boy, claiming that he was King Theo's son. Emilia Bold, claiming that she and then Prince Theo had had a relationship, was taken into custody. The three year old boy, Frederick Lawrence, was given to a governness to take care of. After six months of extensive deliberation and testimony, Emilia Bold passed away from an unknown ailment. The royal physicians conducted an autopsy and discovered many small masses in her body. After the autopsy, the royal court reported that Emilia was suffering from a fatal condition and that her appearance at the castle was a last ditch effort to make sure her son was taken care of.
King Theo and Queen Sylvia had been very quiet throughout the proceedings, but made a statement after Emilia Bold's death. They decreed that, although King Theo was not Frederick's father, he and Sylvia would raise him as a ward in the royal house. Since Theo was an only child, taking Frederick in as a ward means that, should anything happen to King Theo, Frederick will become king. Of course, there are those in Serronia who believe that only a blood heir of King Theo and Queen Sylvia can take the throne. King Theo does not yet have an answer for them.

King Simon Arthur William
Queen Consort Mary Eleanor
Son?: Thomas John Porter
Of the illustrious Royal House of: Wales
In the Kingdom of Wales, in Brittania
Simon and Mary were taking their weekly stroll through the market when a young woman, disheveled and unusually pale, grabbed the King's arm. After calming the guards, the King questioned the young woman's bold move. She told him her name was Gwendolyn Porter, a ladies maid to Princess Anne of Cornwall, his former betrothed. Confused, the King asked Gwendolyn what she was doing in Wales. She laughed, and pulled from behind her a small boy, no older than 2. He had long, dirty blond hair and gray eyes and was equally as dirty as his mother. His name was Thomas John. And she was claiming that he was the King's son.
The King immediately denied the accusation. Yes, he has spent time in Cornwall while courting Princess Anne, but he denied ever sleeping with her or her ladies maids. The Queen, observant and cool this entire time, observed Gwendolyn. She, like her father, had a curiosity for healing, had noticed Gwendolyn was sweating l, coughing and the sides of her neck was swollen.

Queen: Aurelia Maximiliana Octavia Decima
Consort: Leonidas Alexander
Son: Duke Felix Arcadios
Of the illustrious Royal House of: Giordano
In the Empire of: Alexandria
One day Aurelia's cousin Flavia brought a 5-year-old boy to the Royal Palace claiming him to be Aurelia's son. It was soon discovered that Aurelia had gotten pregnant when she was just a teenager. She had been pretty wild as teenager and didn't even know who the baby's father was. As the second child of the royal family Aurelia was not expected to become the queen, and had been given a lot more freedom than her older sister (who later unexpectedly died). The royal family had done everything to hide Aurelia's pregnancy, and soon after the baby boy was born he was given to Flavia to raise as her own. Now Flavia was dying of cancer and could not take care of the child anymore. Aurelia couldn't abandon her child again and officially announced that Felix was her son, giving him the title of Duke. All of this caused a scandal in Alexandria, but after some time people of Alexandria fell in love with little Felix who was a very lovely little boy, and soon Felix was the most liked member of the royal family. However several young men were now claiming to be Felix's father which caused a lot more unwanted attention. None of these claims could be confirmed by DNA testing and Felix's real father remains a mystery. Leonidas had known about Aurelia's wild past, but an illegitimate child had still been a quite shock for him. After some time Felix had melted Leonidas's heart and he was happy to raise him as his own.

Monarch: Beatrice Antonia Estelle
Consort: Tarquin Alexius Tenley
Son?: Edmund Taggart
Of the illustrious Royal House of: Lyon
In the Kingdom of: Ybern
The claims that Beatrice had mothered a child came from the fact she'd been largely away from the public eye for a lengthy period - long enough for the rumor to be true. She had not been the first heir to the throne when she was younger, but a period of war had brought her to the top of the royal line. Though the rumors gained life, Tarquin strongly insisted she had been a maid when they wed. Perhaps his gracious dealing with the issue came from the fact that he would have thought if an illegitimate child showed up, it would have his. Some of the queen's advisers encourage her to come down harshly on the pretender, but others argued it would give legitimacy to the claim by acknowledging it in such a way. Beatrice decided for compassion, allowing the child to be fostered in the palace by a member of court.

Empress: Demeter Azura Wei "Demi"
Princess Consort: Gemina Hermione Estel "Gem" (Simonides)
Of the illustrious Royal House of: Jiang
In the Empire of: Lai Shi
After the very sudden and untimely death of Princess Demeter's mother, Demi finds herself pressed into the role of Empress in her place, a role she feels almost entirely unprepared to fill. But as her mother's only heir, she has little choice and proceeds with the coronation, still reeling from grief at the loss of her mother. But once the crown sits heavily on her head, the people of Lai Shi demand yet another duty of her: that she marry. A royal wedding, her ministers advise, will lift the spirits of the people who also mourn for her mother, as a wedding is a sign of hope for the future.
In no state of mind to endure what will undoubtedly be an unending line of ambitious suitors, the new Empress Demeter turns to her friend Gemina, with whom she recently spent four happy years at university. Gemina is shocked and a little overwhelmed by the proposal, but also both flattered and honoured. Even as the sole heir of the minor noble house of Simonides in the nearby kingdom of Bertrand, Gemina wouldn't exactly be an expected choice for consort even if she were a man, and Demi's ministers unanimously advise against such a non-traditional match even in the face of Demi's insistence that she loves Gem and cannot be expected to marry some stranger just for the sake of politics. Ultimately, Demi is the Empress after all and her will prevails over that of her ministers. The wedding goes forward, despite the people's reaction being very divided on the issue.

In the Empire of: Lai Shi
Just two months after the royal wedding, a blind man brings a little boy before the court, insisting he is Empress Demeter's son by a young woman named Raya Karmen, a former classmate and sometimes rival of both Demi and Gem from university. When asked by a somewhat flabbergasted royal advisor how the Empress could possibly have had a child with another woman, the man replies, "She used magic!" Unfortunately, Raya cannot be questioned about these claims, as she has been unconscious for two weeks due to a sudden and virulent illness and is not expected to awake.
While Princess Consort Gemina is in fact the most gifted healer and alchemist in Lai Shi, she can't be considered as an impartial judge, so the task of attempting to determine the boy's parentage falls to Marian Weaver, court physician. The results of the tests, however, return inconclusive; the child is undoubtedly related to Empress Demeter, but it's impossible to say if he is in fact her son. Demi wonders if he is perhaps her half brother, child of Raya by Demi's estranged father who years ago managed to get himself banished from Lai Shi and of whom there has been no reputable word since. Gem sugests that perhaps Raya herself used magic to make herself a child - she always did seem to have a strange obsession with Demi. But regardless of how the child came to be, Demi does feel responsible for his welfare, so she takes him as her ward.
Gem warms to Niko even faster than Demi (who's still not sure how to feel about the fact that he is in fact related to her and the possibilities of how that might be - all of which are at least slightly disturbing - and who is also very busy ruling her empire), often taking him from his nanny for an hour or two to play together in the palace gardens (he especially loves watching the koi in the pond). He warms to her quickly as well and calls her "Auntie Gem." Due at least in part to little Niko, Gem is quickly discovering a love for children and a desire to have more.

King Cadfael Aneurin Llyr Geraint
Queen Consort Naiara Josune Maialen
Cadfael's son: Ieuan Calder Medraut
of the illustrious Royal House of Argall-Jasso
in the Kingdom of Egremont
Mere weeks after Cadfael and Naiara were wed, a man appeared at court with a young child in tow. The stranger was called Glynn, though he was more commonly known as Glynn the Crow owing to his jet black hair. On this day, Glynn stood before the throne and proclaimed the child who accompanied him to be Cadfael's illegitimate son. The king and his court scoffed at this outrageous assertion, until Glynn drew back the boy's hood to reveal a head of flaming red hair. The court fell silent, as there was no question the toddler did not descend from the Crow's line -- he was the spitting image of Cadfael.
Glynn explained that his daughter Angharad, a barmaid, had fallen pregnant by (as she had told him) a young foot soldier passing through their village. That same daughter now lay on her deathbed, having been stricken with the wasting fever that claimed her brothers' lives after they returned home from war. In her weakened state, she had divulged a secret to her father: that wee Ieuan was the result of a night spent with Cadfael, then merely a knight, at the inn where he and his men had quartered.
Cadfael remembered Angharad well, for the day after their tryst he had ridden to meet the Jasso peace delegation, where he encountered Naiara for the first time. With just one look at the boy, Cadfael could no more deny Ieuan's paternity than he could stop the sun from rising and setting each day.
He inquired of Glynn what he expected to come from this revelation. The old man shook his head and sadly said he could not continue to care for Ieuan, as he was merely a bondservant to Lord Meirion of House Gwyther. What's more, the Gwythers were notorious for being the last noble House to choose a side during the war, declaring for Argall only when it became apparent who would emerge victorious. Glynn feared that the offspring of the king would not be safe in the presence of the unreliable Lord Meirion.
It was Naiara who stood on the dais and declared that young Ieuan would be adopted into House Argall as the natural son of the king, to be raised alongside his legitimate brothers and sisters. Arrangements were quickly made for suitable quarters within the Royal Keep, where Cadfael ordered Angharad be brought so that she could spend her last days with her son.

Queen: Soora Wolfriver
Son?: Rankin Icefrost
Of the illustrious Royal House of: Ayen
In the Kingdom of: Tavaraen
When Riniya Bluefrost showed up at the palace claiming that young Rankin was Airdan's son, no one believed her. The fact that Rankin had been given the name Icefrost rather than Blackfrost proved that if Riniya truly thought he was the king's son she hadn't yet suspected it at the time of his birth. That Airdan barely recognized her made it seem even more unlikely that her claim was true. Even so, there was enough doubt to make him consider at least raising the child. Soora was somewhat suspicious of her husband, but even she was not entirely convinced.
Despite the royal family's attempt to keep the whole matter quiet, news of Rankin's arrival leaked out to the public. Their reaction was similar to that of the queen, slightly suspicious but overall unbelieving of Riniya's claim. The most shocking part, for most, was that Airdan chose to raise Rankin. Better for the royalty to raise a commoner than for a prince to live on the streets, he said. The couple is not, however, adopting or claiming the child or making him their heir.

Even though Johan has admit he's the child's father, Jakob will not be able to inherit the throne, or even be a Prince. So Johan gives him the title of Duke.

Queen: Eugenie Albertine Ingrid Lovisa

Adopted son: Axel Vidar Johannes [Lund] Bernadotte
Of the illustrious Royal House of: Bernadotte

Mere two months after the wedding of Lovisa and Peter a mysterious man by the name Svante Lund showed up at the palace with a two year old boy in tow, claiming the little boy was Lovisa's illegitimate child. The claim itself was completely absurd given her young age and constant presence in the spotlight during the past years that most of the kingdom only laughed about it and the rumors died out very quickly.
However on one evening Lovisa admitted to Peter that while little Axel was not her child, she has known Svante for several years and given the fatal illness he had been suffering she'd like to provide home to his son. Although not excited about the idea of parenting someone else's child initially, after spending some time with the little boy, Peter changed his mind rather quickly and little Axel found his new home in the royal palace and new parents in the Queen and King of Sweden.

It's not the dark ages, after all. A simple DNA test would clear this all up. Upon taking the test, it is revealed that Rhys is not the son of King Philip, but of his cousin, Lord Edward! Queen Tegwen is frankly shocked, and in spite of the scandal could simply not allow the boy to stay with such an unsavory character. Rhys spends most of his time on Olio with Tegwen's family, which suits him very well.

Of the illustrious Royal House of: Durin

Farin decides to adopt the boy - he can't help but feel responsible in some way, even though the one who came to bring the child was lying. Farin has been faithful to Ibûn; he has to be, since their marriage is shameful as it is. What he doesn't know is that the child was born from a rather unprincely one-night-stand before he even met Ibûn, and it is his child. Ibûn believes Farin but is not very fond of Tyr at first. He doesn't like young children very much, and Tyr is only 18 months old. Once he knew how to handle him - which took some time, as neither had any experience with younger siblings or other kids - Tyr started to grow on him, though.
Farin has also made the decision to keep Tyr hidden, and not make him his heir. He doesn't know what to do when Tyr is older and it probably will get out that he has an "illegitimate" son, but he'll cross that bridge when he comes to it.
I haven't done many congrats with stories, so I was wondering if it's custom to copy + paste your story as you go along, as well as your family?

Answer
No, most people just write the continuation to their stories without copy+pasting the story thus far, most likely for brevity's sake. You may keep the whole story intact if you wish, but that is neither required nor particularly necessary.

Of the illustrious Royal House of: Toril

"Kalila, I love you," Breccan Toril, prince of all of Sidonie, whispers, his voice breathy against her ear. Kalila turns to him slightly before returning her eyes to the sky, hands on the controls, fingers dancing across them as she flies the craft. A scoff breaks the brief silence. "Kalila, there's no reason for us not to be together. I love you. Don't tell me now that you don't love me."
Keeping her eyes forward, Kalila slowly replies, "Breccan, honey, you know I love you. I just don't think it's a good idea for us to stay together. Not now that your father passed away and you're supposed to rise to the throne. I never wanted any of that. Besides, you're a prince. Princes aren't supposed to marry pilots. And that's what I am. A pilot. Other than you, my only love is the skies and the stars through which I fly. And if life is going to keep us apart, so be it. But you can't marry a mere pilot, sweetie. No matter how much you love me."
"Screw tradition!" Breccan shouted in outburst, his face glowing red with anger. His eyes glared out of his royal face. "We're not in the golden age where tradition was everything anymore. We're here. We're now. This is the modern age, Kalila. The modern age! I'm the prince and you know what I say? I say screw tradition, let's get married."
Kalila sat in silence. Her mind worked best when focused on her flying and the beauty and peace that brought. Breccan shifted his weight impatiently from foot to foot, waiting for her to answer. Patience was not a strength of the young prince. "So?" he inquired demandingly. Kalila, keeping her composure, shushed him. Despite how much Breccan disliked this habit of hers, he knew that she required time for thought. She was not the impetuous type to make a decision in the blink of an eye. That's one of the things he loved about her. They were so very different in that way. His impetuosity when paired with her caution resulted in many beautiful adventures and he knew--he just knew--that they would make a wonderful pair, both as a husband and wife and as a king and queen.

Breccan called back, "I'll be there in a minute! Thank you." As soon as he heard the page's footsteps fade away, he rolled back over and fell back to sleep. Ten minutes later, the page had returned. Once again, Breccan informed him that he would be there in just a minute before returning to sleep.
On the page's third visit, Kalila mumbled sleepily, "Just go, Brec. Make him leave us alone. Besides, what you're doing is rude."
Reluctantly, Breccan rolled out of bed, snatching his clothing off the chair upon which they sat. "Yeah, yeah, I know," he said. "But then again, so is waking someone up so early the morning after they wedded the love of their life." As he spoke, he dressed for the day but Kalila stayed in bed. "Come on, Kal, you're coming, too," he laughed, diving onto the bed and pulling her to her feet as she fought back. "It's your first morning as my wife. You go where I go."
Kalila put on her pouty face before breaking into laughter, having cracked herself up. "Fine! Fine! But only because I love you so much," she insisted.
Once the couple was fully dressed, they left to meet with the woman who had "urgent" business with them. As they entered the throne room, a young, sickly woman stood, holding the hand of a boy who looked to be about three. He looked nothing like his mother but resembled ever so slightly Breccan. The woman bowed her head and spoke: "My king, four years ago, I worked here in the palace as a maid. I was fired four years ago when I became pregnant. This is the child to whom I gave birth. But now I am sick. The doctors estimate that I won't survive past six months. The boy has no one else. No one but you."
Monarch: Breccan Nicasio Zevi Willem Augustus (30)
Consort: Kalila Savita Whimsy [Scipio] (27)
Son?: Tybalt Petros Uriah (3)
Of the illustrious Royal House of: Toril
In the Kingdom of: Sidonie

La Reina
Prince: Michele Rinieri Lorenzo
Consort: Caterina Maria Annunziata
Son?: Pietro Cristofano [Tancredi]
Of the illustrious Royal House of: Manco
In the City-State of: Salvi
Merely half a year since Michele and Caterina's wedding, an unpleasant surprise emerged. Rosa Tancredi, the youngest daughter of renowned condottiero Jacopo Tancredi, arrived in town with a young boy in tow. This would have caused quite a stir under normal circumstances, as the famously beautiful and proud Rosa was seen dressed in heavy veils that obscured her face, but within the walls of the Palazzo Manco, a different matter was the cause of anxiety and outrage.
As it were, Rosa was insistent that her young son, Pietro, was her love-child with Michele, the result of a drunken encounter during a festival in Firenze half a decade ago. She had raised the boy well and provided for all his needs, but now, she told them, she was wasting away of a disease, and feared that her days on earth will not be for longer still. It is with this plea that she had come to Salvi, hoping for young Pietro to be given a new home under his father's roof.
This caused significant distress to Michele and Caterina. For one, despite the shaky claim of paternity, Michele did remember having spent a night of rowdy festivities in Firenze five years ago, and having met Rosa there; what's more, the boy did bore a slight but noticeable resemblance to him, with their dark hair and eyes. Michele admitted to Caterina that there is a likelihood that Pietro was in fact his son, a confession that Caterina accepted quietly and solemnly. She was hurt by the idea that her husband would be taking his child by another woman into their home, but she understood his plight, and she had come to pity young Pietro's situation. Still, it was not untio the next morning that she approached Michele in their garden and told him with certainty that she was willing to raise Pietro as if he were her own son.
By the end of the week, Rosa bade her son good-bye, supposedly to retire to a convent for the rest of her days; within a month, a messenger was sent to notify Michele that she had expired of her illness. But there was still a concern, slight but gnawing inside Michele's mind, that the other members of the Tancredi family will someday return and attempt to use Perotto -- as young Pietro is starting to be called -- as leverage to influence the goings-on in Salvi.
