HelpBuild A Family Round 1
I can't believe how many signed up! If I didn't get to you and you still don't have "you" and your DH (or indeed just you), I'm truly sorry, and I'll randomly give you the information needed, just tell me if you need it! It's been a year, and an interesting one at that! Tell what has happened in the past year- Including your honeymoon (if you have a DH), what's been going on at work, what's up with DH, a difficult time, a vacation, and anything else you would like to add. Again- be as detailed or vauge as you wish! Another recent and big event has recently happened: About a week ago, your first child was born! Describe what has happened with that, in any way you wish.
For the first child, it's pretty much random descisions. Flip a coin for gender, heads are boys, and tails are girls. If you want to have multiples, feel free! For each multiple, flip the coin again. The names are completely your choice as long as you can find them on the website!
Be sure to post your family now, including all of the information I gave you before. (Now, of course, add the child and change the ages.)
In other rounds, there will be morse choices. After the first birth, (this round) you will get to choose weather or not you get another child, and the gender will sometimes be random, other times your choice. I'll also give more specific information about what's going on in your families! The fun is only just starting, so don't worry if this seems a bit... Boring... lol!

In the beginning: James and I met in college, the only two wallflowers at a club. We started talking and left our respective friends behind to go get ice cream. James is working on his first novel. I'm excited, because there is a character inspired by yours truly. We just bought 50 acres outside of a smallish city, and are living in an apartment while our house is being built. James needed somewhere quiet to write; I wanted a garden. Guess which lucky interior designer gets to do all the decorating?
This year: Our house was finally finished! We moved in last May, and now James has an office to work in, and I have a sun room and a butterfly garden, which is a work in progress. James' novel was sent to the publisher and will be coming out next year. After all the work that James put in on his book, and I decorated the entire house, we decided to take a belated honeymoon and tour Western Europe. James is doing research for his next book, and has this intense fascination with standing stones. I think we visited all of them!
I think we de-stressed a little too well...When we came home, I was feeling really tired and just couldn't seem to bounce back. I thought it was jet lag, but James brought a pregnancy test home one night and it was positive. It was kind of a surprise, but a very nice one.

Milo and me are a perfect team, we both love the same things, eg nature and we do hiking trips every weekend. Sadly, our flat didn't have a garden, but we rented an allotment near by and spend hours gardening in it. After only 6 months Milo asked me in the garden on day, if I didn't want to tell him something. I didn't know what he was talking about. "Anna, my little Seraphim, you can't convince me, I grew up with older sisters!" I still didn't know what he was getting at. Milo laughed "You really don't know, do you? Anna, your pregnant."
You can imagine my face! Then it all clicked into the right place, I hadn't had my menstruation for 2 months and my breasts had started becoming taut. He was right!
We decided to marry, and it was wonderful. It was in August, outside and I had a girdle of flowers in my hair. After the ceremony we had a picknick on a hugh spread! Afterwards we went on our honeymoon, a week in a cabin, just the two of us and NOBODY else for 7 days. We had a lot of fun...
After the honeymoon, when we went to my next checkup there was a big surprise waiting for us: We were having twins!

Buying our first house a year ago felt almost like a second honeymoon, it was so spacious and luxurious after a cramped city apartment. Unfortunately, this honeymoon required a lot more wallpaper scraping and floor sanding than our honeymoon trip to the Philippines did. I was working on a few manuscripts this year, so I haven't spent a lot of time at the office, and therefore I've also been able to spend a lot of time working on the baby nursery, because a few months after we bought the house I found out I was pregnant! With twins! We had been planning to take a trip to the Amazon this year for Luke's work trip, but because I was pregnant my doctor advised us not to. Luke still really wanted to go, and I wanted him to go too (sometimes an empty house is more constructive for my work), but his boss put him on a research assignment before he could go. A week ago today I went into labor, and 12 long hours later I had two beautiful children. Clara and Albert are obviously not identical, but they look very similar, as they both have dark hair, though that may change over time (I was born blonde!)

What a crazy year this has been! I can't believe how quickly the time has gone by.. it feels like just yesterday, Ashley and I were on our honeymoon, two heavenly weeks in a villa in the south of France. Returning to "real life" was a bit of a shock, needless to say. Working as a chef for one of the area's most upscale hotels kept me busy, especially during the spring and summer months, when there tend to be the most weddings! Ashley' was busy, also, working on his Ph. D, but we still managed to find time to squeeze in our morning jogs together and weekend tennis games.
My pregnancy came as a surprise - we never expected to conceive so quickly! We didn't take any steps to prevent it, but we didn't try, either. We figured it would happen when it was meant to happen. After that, imagine our shock when we discovered we were having triplets! Our three beautiful daughters were born about a week ago.

The past year has been an overall nice one. After Jack and I married, we took a honeymoon in Switzerland, it was wonderful, and snowing almost the whole five days! It was a lovely Winter Wonderland (we married and honeymooned in December). We mostly just stayed around the town we were staying at, walking in all of the snow, but we did go to dinner, and I got some shopping in!
Each of our jobs went well, exactly the same as always. Now that I am not a "new" nurse, I did get a bit more trust, but mostly everything was pretty much the same around the hospital. Jack is still loving his Phsychology career! Now I am a stay-at-home momma, (to our lovely baby) until the last child is three or four. Then I'll go back into my medical career.
We loved Switzerland so much on our honeymoon, and decided to go on another trip there for a vacation, in June! It was shorter, two days, but still very enjoyable.
About three months ago, (September) when Jack and I were driving to a movie, we got into a minor car accident. Neither of us were injured, but the airbags did go off, and it shook us up quite a bit! Our main concern was to the baby, so we went to the doctor, and he said everything looked alrgiht.
A week ago, on Friday, December 13th, our first son, Merrick Owen was born. We couldn't wait to have a child, and we love him so much. We are lucky enough to have a situation where I have the opportunity to be a stay-at-home parent, until Merrick (and future children) is older. Merrick is a great baby, though he is a fussy eater, he sleeps four hours at night, wakes up for a diaper change and food, then sleeps another three hours, and we're thrilled! We love Merrick and think it will be great to have more children.

The past year has been an overall nice one. After Jack and I married, we took a honeymoon in Switzerland, it was wonderful, and snowing almost the whole five days! It was a lovely Winter Wonderland (we married and honeymooned in December). We mostly just stayed around the town we were staying at, walking in all of the snow, but we did go to dinner, and I got some shopping in!
Each of our jobs went well, exactly the same as always. Now that I am not a "new" nurse, I did get a bit more trust, but mostly everything was pretty much the same around the hospital. Jack is still loving his Phsychology career! Now I am a stay-at-home momma, (to our lovely baby) until the last child is three or four. Then I'll go back into my medical career.
We loved Switzerland so much on our honeymoon, and decided to go on another trip there for a vacation, in June! It was shorter, two days, but still very enjoyable.
About three months ago, (September) when Jack and I were driving to a movie, we got into a minor car accident. Neither of us were injured, but the airbags did go off, and it shook us up quite a bit! Our main concern was to the baby, so we went to the doctor, and he said everything looked alrgiht.
A week ago, on Friday, December 13th, our first son, Merrick Owen was born. We couldn't wait to have a child, and we love him so much. We are lucky enough to have a situation where I have the opportunity to be a stay-at-home parent, until Merrick (and future children) is older. Merrick is a great baby, though he is a fussy eater, he sleeps four hours at night, wakes up for a diaper change and food, then sleeps another three hours, and we're thrilled! We love Merrick and think it will be great to have more children.

I don't think this is boring at all, I'm having lots of fun which explains my insanely long story :P
James and I had a fabulous time on our honeymoon. We went on a tour of Scotland, probably not the best idea since we didn’t do too much tourist activities but I had always wanted to go. We had a lot of fun, trying some of their home-brewed ales and listening to their accents. The only sad part was when it ended and we realized that we still had to work. Since James makes enough for us both to live comfortably without me working, we had already decided I would write full-time, though I also make sure the house is clean and there is dinner on the table when James gets home. I know that may sound strange especially with the whole feminist thing but there nothing like seeing James’s satisfied expression when he gets home and sees that there’s dinner on the table. That doesn’t mean I do all the work, I make sure he picks up his laundry and does the dishes when its his turn, not that he complains he has been cleaning up for himself for almost twenty years. However about five months after we got married an author he was working with decided to sue him over discrimination. There were not many happy times after that. James stopped coming home in the evenings, instead staying at his office to work the case.

For our honeymoon, Van and I went on a Carribean cruise. We had a wonderful time! I still work with 1st and 2nd graders and I recently had the oppurtunity to have a student teacher in our class. She was very good with the kids and I think they liked her. Van and I are just as much in love as ever. In fact, maybe even more so. It's been a year since we were married and already we have a child, but there's more about him below. Van's been having a bit of trouble at work; a new kid just out of university was hired to a position of management and he seems to delight in making Van's job horrible. I won't go into details, but Van isn't liking it. Since Van and I went on a honeymoon earlier in the year, we decided not to take a vacation this year.
Our son, Brennan Iarlaith, was born a week ago today at 2 am. He was healthy and right on time. We chose his name because of Van's grandfather (Brennan) and we both liked Iarlaith. It sounded a bit foreign, so we decided it might go well with Brennan. Since it did, we were happy to use both names. Brennan is proving to be quite a challenge. The school year is almost over, so I'll be taking leave for a year or two after that. For now though, Brennan is in daycare five days a week. I'm not too worried though, because we'll have all summer and the next few years to devote entirely to him and any other children who come along.
