Year 1: Cailin revisits university to take a top up course in paediatric nursing. She decided to do this after having to work on the children's ward at her hospital and finding that she loves it. While doing her full-time degree at a local uni, Alan is happy to earn enough money for them both.

Year 4: Ever since completing her degree in paediatric nursing, Cailin has felt that her experience isn't being put to best use at the hospital she is currently at, so when a partnership scheme offers her the chance to move to a specialist children's hospital, she jumps at the chance!

Year 5: After hitting 30, Cailin felt as though she is ready to become a mother, luckily Alan feels the same way about becoming a dad. Soon after starting to try, the couple find out that they have been successful - but Cailin is not just pregnant with one baby, but is expecting fraternal twin boys! When their sons are born - one with wavy red hair and blue eyes, and the other wavy black hair and blue eyes - Alan and Cailin name them Arthur Mykel and Niklaus Carson McGee respectively.

Year 6: With the boys starting to crawl around, Alan and Cailin agree that their luxury apartment just isn't cutting it as a family home. They move out of the city, into a converted barn which has five bedrooms, three bathrooms and ample room for the boys.

Year 9: With the twins starting school full time, Cailin would love another baby but isn't sure if she wants to go through pregnancy and labour again, after speaking with Alan he suggests adopting, and so they look into it immediately. While filming over in China, Alan becomes aware of the problem of orphaned children because of the law, he poses the question of adopting from China to Cailin who thinks it's a grand idea. Soon the papers are signed and they are bringing home a 3month old baby boy who they'd both fallen in love with. Alan and Cailin decide to keep his given name Jiang as the baby's middle name and give him a new, more Australian-friendly first name: Tobias.
