Dear PantheraVirgo Adoption Agency,
We feel so blessed to be writing to you today, nearly two years since we adopted four of our beloved children with your help. It is a special day for us, not just because of our adoption anniversary but also because Avi is graduating high school tomorrow. It is really hard to believe that we have come so far from who we were back when we first met you.
Although I doubted it would actually happen, Aviyah has been very much changed by the experience of adopting new "siblings". Avi has lived with us since she was around Maya's age (when her parents died), and she living with us when both our biological daughters were born, without much effect. She played with and loved them of course, but until recently she would not go out of her way to spend time with them. When the 'new kids' arrived, she seemed to realize how lucky we all are to have a family. She gets on, with us and our kids, so much better than she used to.
Sofia has really blossomed. Although she has her teenage angst-y moments, for the most part she is pretty sweet. Sofia really looks up to Avi (although not literally, since soon after Sofia came to live with us she shot up in height) and the two of them have connected over music. Having Avi around seems to have really comforted Sofia and helped her deal with the grief of being abandoned as a child. Now that Sofia has finished 8th grade, we have really enjoyed seeing her take to math and reading, among other subjects. She is very motherly to our other children.
Unsurprisingly, Max and Maya are best of friends. The two of them are almost the same age, which works well in their relationship. M&M, as we like to call them, enjoy playing outside and making up stories as they go. When Max and Maya first became good friends, Tali was incredibly jealous. However, after a few weeks and spending some time with both Max and Maya, alone and together, Tali made her peace with the new arrangement. Max loves joining his older sister for jam sessions whenever Tali and Maya are having sisterly bonding time.
Tali has also made a new best friend, Nadia. The two girls are nearly the same age so, like M&M, they seem to enjoy many of the same activities. Nadia and Tali can often be found playing with baby Leni or following around any one of their older siblings. Nadia is especially thrilled about going to France for the summer, as the thrill has yet to wear off for her.
Lastly, Leni is the sweetest little girl. Although Tali will always be my baby, it is very clear that Leni will be everyone's baby. Elena loves to follow around her big sisters, and has a special love for her daddy.
