The last couple of years everything has gone really well for the family. With high prices on grain and good harvests Oskar has made more money than he ever thought was possible. Ingrid started to sew and knit clothes for the poor last winter. She felt like her family had been so lucky that she wanted to help those not as fortunate as herself. People admired her skills but it came as a surprise when there were people in the area who were willing to pay for clothes made by her. Ingrid is now working almost half-time making clothes and she has even sold a few pieces to a store in the nearby village!
Oskar wants to expand his farm and since he has the means they have decided to build their new home. Both Ingrid and Oskar are so excited! They will move in to a brand new home, a place where there's room for a growing family. It's more than they ever dared to hope for when they left Sweden.
Their second son, Isak Vilhelm, was born only two weeks after they had moved into their new big house.
