Prince Joseph and Maria Elisabeth welcomed another daughter to their little family this year. Princess Aloisia is a lovely baby, quiet and serene. She cries very little, which has lead her older brother Arthur to be rather more fond of her than her more energetic and fussy sister. Both Arthur and Elisabeth have been growing well, and Arthur has begun reading lessons with the same tutors as Crown Prince August. The two little boys seems to get along fairly well.

Joseph and Maria Elisabeth were very glad to have a nice quiet year. The lack of gossip and scandal at Court allowed Joseph to aid the avalanche victims quietly. He spent some time in the affected area helping to rebuild homes and hand out supplies and food. He felt that Walter's response, while diplomatically appropriate, was not adequate. Maria Elisabeth, pregnant as she was, remained in their comfortable apartments at the Palace, but stitched clothing for the victims of the disaster and sent them to Joseph. When the Bogdanov family began to make a big fuss about the King's response, Joseph stepped in to quiet them down. He didn't want his brother's peaceful year to end in protests, and he didn't think the Bogdanovs really understood the problem of avalanches in Bialan history and the typical devastation that occurs. He was angry that they spoke so harshly about Walter when they called for a day of sadness from their comfortable home rather than doing anything to help the village, but paid them off anyway to keep the peace.
