When I saw what you left on the desk, I was plain flabbergasted. It took some time for me to actually understand the fact that you are pregnant. It was a mixture of surprise, excitement, joy, and also fear that leapt within. Is it going to be a boy or a girl, Sophie? What do you say we think of names for now?

London is lovely.
I think it would be nice for it to be a surprise. Are you hoping for one gender in particular?
(Since our naming rules says local to where we live, I suppose that means we use English names, but I wonder if Welsh or Irish names would be acceptable, too?)
For a little boy, I like classic names, like James and William (especially with the nickname Liam). Naming him after you, Lex, would also be a possibility. I also like more unusual, but elegant names like: Arden, Ashton, Camden, Chase, Channing, Darien, Griffin, Hadley, Keiran, Lane, Leland, and Rowan. Maybe a combination of a classic name and a more unusual one:
Camden Alexander // Leland Jame // William Hadley // Ashton Michael
For girls, I like mostly everything except for some reason the name Madison really grates on me. I like names that are not going to be too hard to pronounce and are generally nice sounding. I prefer names that are distinctly feminine, not unisex or masculine, on girls. Some possibilities: Adelaide, Abigail, Autumn, Aveline, Alaina, Briony, Catherine, Delaney, Hope, Linnaea, Temperance.

I'm open to other ideas. I mostly tried to take from Old English derived names, which is a little more difficult for girls' names.
My family is excited, but a little sad that we're a world apart. Maman and Coralie are talking about coming over to stay with us for a little while when it gets close to Baby's birthday. How does your mother feel about me being pregnant?

It seems like we have similar tastes in names! A good match indeed. Or a coincidence?
For the boys, I have a few of the more androgynous names. But sometimes, just classic names is the best. What I have in mind for now include Lesley, Michael, Daniel, Lennox, or Rodney. I like Griffin and William, but I would prefer to refrain from Camden. It is just a few neighbourhoods down the lane, remember? Michael Griffin // Lennox Arden // Lesley Darien

Would you like to name the child after someone in your family, perhaps? My mother seems to be a bit out of the question with her more - er, odd - name. Believe it or not, they named her Billie Jean. My father might or might not be named Michael. What about your family?

Ah, I'm not quite accustomed to London yet, having lived around Nice before we were married. It's a shame, Camden is a lovely name.
I'm not crazy about any of the boys names you mentioned, Lennox Arden being my pick for the ones listed, but I really like Adela Catherine for a girl.
I've always liked my brother Remy's name and also the name Luke. Luke is my father's name, which is where my brother Luca's name came from.

Well, I hope you can be happier here. If you do not feel comfortable, maybe we can have a trip to the Riviera every once in a while, or even move to the continent. I agree, though. Camden is a good name.

I'm willing to say Adela Catherine for a girl. I liked Remy William, as well, but if you'd like to expand what we're looking at, I'm willing to hear it.
I'm comfortable here, just not used to England yet. Maybe if we moved to the continent at some point later on we could use Camden. My mother and my older sister have been telling me all sorts of things too. Especially old wives' tales from my mother. Coralie has sent me several pregnancy and baby name books from Quebec. I'm enjoying being pregnant...the morning sickness isn't so bad anymore. Maybe I've just gotten used to it?

Adela Catherine for a girl then. But if we name the boy Remy William, how will we call him so not to confuse him with your other Remy?
Maybe. Yes, maybe we can. No, you're not getting used to it - it does start to get better after some time. At least my mum says so. I cannot speak personally on that matter!
