Re: Helena & Ninor
in reply to a message by Helena
I don't really go for animal names either, but I LOVE Leo (if that name counts, maybe Leopard "Leo" or Lion if it doesn't count?). Linnet is also fine, close enough to Linnea which I like. Elephant maybe for a MN? I haven't thought about it as a name before but I think I have a new GP :P
Other suggestions (I'm going wild here..): Llama, Jaguar, Lark, Hawk, Heron, Nightingale, Raven, Seal, Tiger, Wolf, Zebra, Llinos (means greenfinch), Mavis, Sparrow
I don't even know if I could call some of them "names" :P My favorites are by far Nightingale and Wolf. Any other suggestions?

I hope it counts! Well, looks like Edward and Louisa's first boy will be named Leo :P
Linnet and Llinos would be so cool (do you know the song from the Sweeney Todd musical and film?), in a slightly obscure way.
I managed to find these: Eland (a type of antelope), Dolphin, Fox (too X-Files?), Gull, Magpie, Mallard, Oryx (another antelope)... this is hard! For some reason birds in general seem to have more appealing names.

Leo it is then! I hope we don't have a girl ;)
I have not heard the song, do you know what it's called?
I liked Oryx too. And Maybe Eland. Those are boys names for me though..Maybe animals in other languages counts?
Cobra, Bee, Kangaroo, Panther/Panter (Panter is the Swedish spelling), Pigeon?

The song is called 'Green Finch and Linnet Bird', that's why I thought it was neat. You can check this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9uEMKtYjXc
Oh yes, Oryx and Eland are all boy to me as well. It would be better if other languages counted, otherwise we'll have to name kids Skunk and Beaver :/ Bee is actually cute, in a syrupy sort of way. I also like Papillon (butterfly in French).

Bee is very cute, maybe too cute :P
Papillon is fine too, much better than Skunk imo ;)

Once you have one combo per gender pick a number. You can use names that mean animals i.e. Ariel --> Lion

Oh thanks, that makes things a lot easier!
So... what do you say to Leo Sparrow? Leo Nightingale? Leo Heron?
And for girls, maybe Linnet Vega? Linnet Bee? Linnet Erlea (Basque for 'a bee')? Linnet Circe? More suggestions are very welcome ;)
