Did he suspect anything?Zach had been really concerned about Alicia as he had noticed she wasn't feeling well, but the thought of prenancy hadn't crossed his mind. He just thought she might have been having trouble adjusting to Spain. How did the DH feel when he found out?Suprised at first, but he soon became very very excitedHow did they tell their families? Both Alicia and Zach really wanted to tell their families face to face, but with them being in Spain, and their families in San Francisco made that difficult. In the end they told them via webcam. Were their families happy? sad? angry?Very excited and they are all making plans to come to Spain for a visit soon.Anything else? don't think so....
So for names, we have to use names from a royal family. I was thinking that it'd make sense for us to use the Spanish royal family? What do you think?

Naming Rule for children: Top 100 in UKSo Megaera is from London and traveled to Wales because she wanted less control from her parents. There she met Bernard, they dated and decided to marry. (just to recapfor my benefit.)When I had found out I was pregnant, I was a mix of happy and excited. And a little bit of scared. We didn't really talk about children, did we? I found out a little early, but do you want to tell our families now or wait for a little bit, maybe the end of the first trimester?
vote up1
Bernard was shocked when Meg told him she was pregnant. Protection was supposed to protect, right? But it didn't matter now, because this was happening and this was happening now. After recovering from the shock he was happy, very happy and his family noticed it too. One day while hanging out together Meg got sick and Bea was immediately on her case... (continue)
vote up1
Bea, Bernard's twin, noticed immediately that Meg was sick, even though Meg tried to hide in. In the end Meg eventually told Bea that she was pregnant. Meg couldn't quite read what Bea's face showed, and that scared her slightly. Of course, once one knew the rest knew. Meg couldn't decide whether to be happy about it or kind of ticked off that she didn't get to tell them on her terms. She couldn't do everything the way she wanted to, that was okay. Naturally her parents came next, but she didn't tell her brother. Bernard seemed okay with the situation, but that might not have been the case...
vote up1
if he knew that Bea (what did her face show? are you refering to the fact she's pregnant) knew. Bernard knew his sister all too well and knew that she had a habit of spilling her guts (not literally) to their mother. Of course Meg had sworn her to secretcy but with Bea, no one really knew, but at least it was safe from her family. (don't fret Bea won't tell)
vote up1
Relaxed about her sister-in-law not telling about the pregnancy, Meg was able to enjoy herself. Unbelievably (or believably, really) Meg started thinking about names. It was still a little early, but you can't help but think about them even the smallest amount of time in the beginning. "Did you start thinking about any names?"
vote up1
When asked Bernard pulled out a list, full of names (http://www.behindthename.com/top/lists/100ew2008.php). Marked as his favorites for girls were Jessica, Sophie, Holly, Phoebe, Scarlett, Eva, Isobel, Zoe, Francesca, and Eve (his favoritest). On his boy list Samuel, Oscar, Connor, Isaac, Matthew, Edward, Gabriel, Sebastian, Elliot, and Morgan were marked (he really likes Samuel, Oscar, Connor, Isaac, Matthew)
vote up1
Meg was shocked at some of Bernard's picks. Her favorites, for girls, were Emily, Grace, Sophie, Evie and Amelia, with her absolute favorite first name being Emily, and middle name Sophie. For boys her favorites were Oliver, Thomas, Matthew, Elliot, Ryan and Morgan, with her absolute favorite for a first name being Matthew, and middle name Thomas.
vote up1
Bernard came up with a compromise; Eve Sophia Parker and Matthew Thomas Parker. What do you think? He asked Meg
vote up1
If it's a girl, Eve Sophia is perfect, nickname Evie, since that was a name that Meg liked. And if a boy, Matthew Thomas. Meg was happy with the choices. And now to pick a number. I pick number, you pick one, add them together, divide by two? aha

Bea's (school) week started badly. For starters it all began at four o'clock in the morning and even worse than the fact that it was a Monday, Bea just felt like crap, her stomache hurt and she felt like she was going to throw up. She sat in the bathroom for a little bit before passing out with exhaustion....(continue this please..)

Jacob was naturally concerned that Bea was coming down with something. Even after doctoring her for a few days, he didn't really think about pregnancy since the flu had been going around, but since it seemed to be a "morning" version of the flu, he encouraged Bea to go to the doctor. While he didn't really feel they were prepared for a baby, he was secretly excited as he finished his rounds at the hospital and waited for Bea to come home from the doctor.(Jake's parents are thrilled with the non-religious holiday rule, especially since they love the 4th of July!)

How did the DW find out? - She took a test, and when it came up positive, she went to the doctor to have it confirmed.
Is there a reason why she took the test? - her friend thought she might be pregnant, and Eve decided to take the test with her to help her feel better about it, but she didn't expect it to come up positive.
How did she feel when she found out? A bit shocked, as she and Leo hadn't been actively trying for a child, but happy nonetheless.
How did she tell the DH? She dithered around the topic for a few days before finally announcing bluntly that she was pregnant in the middle of dinner one night.
Did he suspect anything?
How did the DH feel when he found out?
How did they tell their families?
Were their families happy? sad? angry?
Anything else?I'm not sure if there's anything else you want me to add, let me know.

Leo could have sworn something was up with his wife, she had been acting strange, and right as he was going to ask him his wife suprized him with a "we're having a baby!". At first Leo was shocked, they hadn't been trying, but as unexpected and suprizing as it was he decided to take it in stride. "That's great." He said with a fake smile and then they hugged...

Eve's family had never approved of the match, and so it was rather difficult to tell them. They eventually decided to do it over dinner: they gave them an inordinate amount of food and lots of alcohol to make them sleepy (as it seemed to do to their family) and told them. They weren't as bad as they could have been, but did advise a divorce or murdering Leo for his 'indiscretion'. Leo's family was much better, they were able to tell them straight out and were showered in hugs, kisses and gifts.

How did the DW find out?
She took a pregnancy test just to clear suspicion, and said suspicion winded up being confirmed. Is there a reason why she took the test?
The dreaded morning sickness! Louisa had been feeling sick practically every day for over a week, and since it didn't seem to go away on its own, she decided to see a doctor to find out what was going on, as the sickness kept her from keeping much food down even though she was hungry, as and as result had begun to lose weight. However, before she got a chance to see a doctor, she noticed she hadn't had her period yet. Putting two and two together, Louisa took a pregnancy test just to make sure. How did she feel when she found out?
After getting past the initial shock, Louisa started squealing and jumping up and down before a wave of nausea washed over her and she had to cut her celebration short. All in all, she was elated. How did she tell the DH?
How indeed... Any ideas?Did he suspect anything?
Did he? Maybe Edward has a sharp eye for this sort of thing. How did the DH feel when he found out?
Happy? Mournful at his last moments of childless freedom? How did they tell their families?
By gathering them all for a big dinner thing? Sending out emails? Calling them? I don't know. Were their families happy? sad? angry?
Well, if they all get along, I suppose they'd be happy. If they don't, it'd be different (do they get along?).Anything else?
I can't think of anything else, can you?

One day when Edward got home from work Louisa was acting a little bit weird. She didn't tell him anything even though he asked. They ate dinner and when Edward was almost finished he was that something was written on the plate! He ate the rest, and then he could see the text. It said "Daddy to be". He laughed at it and said that those plates must have been very cheap. Louisa just looked at him and seconds later Edward understood. Louisa was pregnant! (Weird story I know....You can change it if you want)

Did he suspect anything?
Louisa didn't feel very well and Edward was worried that she might be ill and he told her to see a doctor. He never really thought that she was pregnant, becuse they had not planned it.

How did the DH feel when he found out?
Edward was very happy to find out that Louisa was pregnant. He couldn't believe his luck! He had an awesome wife and they were having a child! He wanted to scream it out to the world!
How did they tell their families?
Louisa and Edward called their families and asked them to come for dinner which they did. After dinner Edward told them that they had something important to tell them. At that point most of the relatives understood and started smiling and jumping around. And when Louisa confirmed that she was pregnant they all started hugging her!

Aww, that's such a sweet 'Tell the DH' story! So endearing, and the family response was great too.Hmm, animal names... For a boy I like Leo and Björn, and for a girl Linnet and Ylva, but since I don't usually go for animal names, I bet there are dozens of them out there that I'm unaware of. WHat are your suggestions?
vote up1
I don't really go for animal names either, but I LOVE Leo (if that name counts, maybe Leopard "Leo" or Lion if it doesn't count?). Linnet is also fine, close enough to Linnea which I like. Elephant maybe for a MN? I haven't thought about it as a name before but I think I have a new GP :P Other suggestions (I'm going wild here..): Llama, Jaguar, Lark, Hawk, Heron, Nightingale, Raven, Seal, Tiger, Wolf, Zebra, Llinos (means greenfinch), Mavis, SparrowI don't even know if I could call some of them "names" :P My favorites are by far Nightingale and Wolf. Any other suggestions?
vote up1
I hope it counts! Well, looks like Edward and Louisa's first boy will be named Leo :P
Linnet and Llinos would be so cool (do you know the song from the Sweeney Todd musical and film?), in a slightly obscure way.I managed to find these: Eland (a type of antelope), Dolphin, Fox (too X-Files?), Gull, Magpie, Mallard, Oryx (another antelope)... this is hard! For some reason birds in general seem to have more appealing names.
vote up1
Leo it is then! I hope we don't have a girl ;)
I have not heard the song, do you know what it's called?
I liked Oryx too. And Maybe Eland. Those are boys names for me though..Maybe animals in other languages counts? Cobra, Bee, Kangaroo, Panther/Panter (Panter is the Swedish spelling), Pigeon?
vote up1
The song is called 'Green Finch and Linnet Bird', that's why I thought it was neat. You can check this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9uEMKtYjXcOh yes, Oryx and Eland are all boy to me as well. It would be better if other languages counted, otherwise we'll have to name kids Skunk and Beaver :/ Bee is actually cute, in a syrupy sort of way. I also like Papillon (butterfly in French).
vote up1
Bee is very cute, maybe too cute :P
Papillon is fine too, much better than Skunk imo ;)

Okay, hi. I'm not quite sure what I'm supposed to be doing. I think I need to make up a character and we have to decide on a lot of other things but I am not entirely sure... Help me out?

Glass, you are the female. Make up anything about her you'd like. (looks, etc.) Then pick a place to live (try Canada)
vote up1
Okay, thanks! Our entry says continental Europe though, as does La Reina's bio. I'll make my character Canadian-born but living in Europe.Hello, Lex, I'm your wife, Sophie Jacqueline. I'm 25 years old. My maiden name is Morin, and I am from Quebec. I have wavy dark brown hair that goes a little past my shoulders. My eyes are light gray and I am rather pale, with a few light freckles. I work as an interior designer. I have 4 siblings - an older sister, Coralie, two older brothers, Rémy and Maxime, and a younger brother, Luca. My family still lives in Canada, but I moved to Europe a few years ago on a whim. I'm bilingual -- we grew up speaking both English and French. I love reading, sketching, cooking, and photography.
vote up1
To my wife:Hello, Sophie. My name is Alexander Michael, but you can just call me Lex. I am twenty-seven, and I am from the UK. Just like you, I have greyish-blue eyes, my skin is of an olive complexion, and my hair, like yours, coincidentally, is dark brown and curly. I am a computer game designer, and I am somewhat musically inclined, although not enough to actually be a musician. I speak English, and has learnt a bit of French and smatterings of other languages. My mother is still living in UK, my father has passed away last summer, and I have no siblings. I like to read, play the piano, and play video games.Well then, Sophie, where are we living? And how did you know you are pregnant (just to answer the questions).
vote up1
Well, Lex, I'd be open to living in the UK or in France, but I would definitely like to be somewhere near a large city for my work. I've always wanted children, so when I started feeling ill a few weeks ago, I decided to take a pregnancy test. When it came back positive, I was very excited and I wanted to do something sweet to tell you, so I bought one of the figurines I'm quite fond of (http://willowtree.info/product/cherish) and I'm going to set it on your desk with a tag that said "To Dad." I hope that you're excited to have a baby, too! I haven't told my family yet, since I want you to be the first to know and I'm a little scared, too.
vote up1
How about London then? We will have much more ease living where we can understand everything being said. When I saw what you left on the desk, I was plain flabbergasted. It took some time for me to actually understand the fact that you are pregnant. It was a mixture of surprise, excitement, joy, and also fear that leapt within. Is it going to be a boy or a girl, Sophie? What do you say we think of names for now?
vote up1
London is lovely.
I think it would be nice for it to be a surprise. Are you hoping for one gender in particular?(Since our naming rules says local to where we live, I suppose that means we use English names, but I wonder if Welsh or Irish names would be acceptable, too?)For a little boy, I like classic names, like James and William (especially with the nickname Liam). Naming him after you, Lex, would also be a possibility. I also like more unusual, but elegant names like: Arden, Ashton, Camden, Chase, Channing, Darien, Griffin, Hadley, Keiran, Lane, Leland, and Rowan. Maybe a combination of a classic name and a more unusual one:
Camden Alexander // Leland Jame // William Hadley // Ashton MichaelFor girls, I like mostly everything except for some reason the name Madison really grates on me. I like names that are not going to be too hard to pronounce and are generally nice sounding. I prefer names that are distinctly feminine, not unisex or masculine, on girls. Some possibilities: Adelaide, Abigail, Autumn, Aveline, Alaina, Briony, Catherine, Delaney, Hope, Linnaea, Temperance.
Briony Autumn // Linnaea Abigail // Delaney Aveline.I'm open to other ideas. I mostly tried to take from Old English derived names, which is a little more difficult for girls' names. My family is excited, but a little sad that we're a world apart. Maman and Coralie are talking about coming over to stay with us for a little while when it gets close to Baby's birthday. How does your mother feel about me being pregnant?
vote up1
Then London it is.It seems like we have similar tastes in names! A good match indeed. Or a coincidence? For the boys, I have a few of the more androgynous names. But sometimes, just classic names is the best. What I have in mind for now include Lesley, Michael, Daniel, Lennox, or Rodney. I like Griffin and William, but I would prefer to refrain from Camden. It is just a few neighbourhoods down the lane, remember? Michael Griffin // Lennox Arden // Lesley DarienFor the girls, I like the more classic - or sometimes a bit unusual - names. For now, that includes Lavinia, Adela, Frances, or Christiana. Lavinia Adelaide // Adela Catherine // Christiana HopeMy mother is quite surprised. She was happy, of course, and she says it makes her feel grand to suddenly be promoted to grandma-to-be. She is also discussing the possibility of the child being a boy - she said she had a strange feeling it is. I cannot say I believe or disbelieve her.Would you like to name the child after someone in your family, perhaps? My mother seems to be a bit out of the question with her more - er, odd - name. Believe it or not, they named her Billie Jean. My father might or might not be named Michael. What about your family?(don't be surprised with Billie Jean and whatnot - Lex was a "borrowed" character from a silly little in-joke from the Lounge)
vote up1
Ah, I'm not quite accustomed to London yet, having lived around Nice before we were married. It's a shame, Camden is a lovely name.I'm not crazy about any of the boys names you mentioned, Lennox Arden being my pick for the ones listed, but I really like Adela Catherine for a girl.I've always liked my brother Remy's name and also the name Luke. Luke is my father's name, which is where my brother Luca's name came from.
Remy William // Luke Arden // Lennox Michael // Rowan Daniel
vote up1
Well, I hope you can be happier here. If you do not feel comfortable, maybe we can have a trip to the Riviera every once in a while, or even move to the continent. I agree, though. Camden is a good name.Maybe we can consider more options. I liked Remy William and Lennox Michael, and yes, I think Adela Catherine is pretty. Maybe we should settle on that if it were a girl? And if it were a boy?My mother is telling me a lot of things - what to do if you get nauseous, what to give for you to eat, what you should not eat, and so forth. She's that kind of woman, not that I mind.
vote up1
I'm willing to say Adela Catherine for a girl. I liked Remy William, as well, but if you'd like to expand what we're looking at, I'm willing to hear it.I'm comfortable here, just not used to England yet. Maybe if we moved to the continent at some point later on we could use Camden. My mother and my older sister have been telling me all sorts of things too. Especially old wives' tales from my mother. Coralie has sent me several pregnancy and baby name books from Quebec. I'm enjoying being pregnant...the morning sickness isn't so bad anymore. Maybe I've just gotten used to it?
vote up1
Adela Catherine for a girl then. But if we name the boy Remy William, how will we call him so not to confuse him with your other Remy?Maybe. Yes, maybe we can. No, you're not getting used to it - it does start to get better after some time. At least my mum says so. I cannot speak personally on that matter!

How did the DW find out? Is there a reason why she took the test? She was excessively moody and a very hopeful mother-in-law suggested she take a pregnancy test. Which, naturally came back positive.
How did she feel when she found out? She was at at first relieved that nothing was *wrong* with her. Then a bit apprehensive because this wasn't exactly planned.
How did she tell the DH? Two nights later over his favorite desert..."remember how you said you're like to have kids one day? How about ... eight months from now?"
Did he suspect anything?
How did the DH feel when he found out?
How did they tell their families?
Were their families happy? sad? angry?
Anything else?

Did he suspect anything? Well, when she was excessively moody, he thought she might be coming down with something. He let it slide, thinking that she'd get better and go back to normal sooner or later. He decided to ask her if anything was wrong if nothing happened in the next week, which it did...
How did the DH feel when he found out? At first, like her, he was relieved that it was something good. He had been saving up money in case something like this happened, so he wasn't too worried. He hugged her, and suddenly became very happy when he realized that he wouldn't have to ask her how she felt about kids like he'd been planning too.
How did they tell their families? He decided to make sure that his parents knew that he was very happy about how this turned out before he told them. He started with, "I have some very good news..."
Were their families happy? sad? angry? His parents were happy for him, but also sad that he was growing up so fast. They warned him that this child was a person, and to be very careful with the person's upbringing.
Anything else?
We still need how we met...

I think we should have some crazy story about how we met. Like we were in a fender bender, exchanged info, and started dating or something. Names...I really like unisex names with standard spellings for girls (Maddison, Parker, Cameron, Bailey) and for boys I like names that are kind of old-school/formal/unusual (Constantine, Geoffrey, Jackson, Ernest) and also Irish names. What about you?
vote up1
I agree with the girls names. In addition, I like really pretty names, such as Ariana, Daniela, Adele, Laila...
For boys, I don't like any specific types of names, it just depends on the name.
List of names I like starting with E...
Elaine
Eliana
Erin
Evelyn
Edgar
Edward
Emmett
Edmund
What about you? (I just ran out of ideas, that doesn't mean I don't like anything else :))How we met...
One day, I was walking along the street in NYC, (I was on vacation) when I suddenly bumped into a pretty college-aged girl holding a ton of shopping bags. I apologized, helped her pick them up, and asked her for her number. She slapped me and ran away. Embarrassed, I went into a random store. The young woman behind the desk had witnessed the scene. Luckily, she didn't question me as to why I was in her fancy designer wedding dress store. Grateful, I asked her what her name was. She replied...
I have to go you can finish...

I love Emily and Emma.
I also like Elton. What about Edward or Emmett? I know the whole Twilight thing kind of ruins it, but they are good names.

I like those as well but I, also, felt to need to avoid twilight references. So what about the "family" middle names?

How did the DW find out?She took a pregnancy test.Is there a reason why she took the test?Lilith guessed at it because she felt sick in the morning and had missed her monthlies. How did she feel when she found out?Terrified. Absolutely terrified. But then she got over it, for the most part, and was fairly happy. How did she tell the DH?How would she tell Noah? I mean, she could just come out and say it or...okay, I really have no idea.Did he suspect anything?I don't know. Did he?How did the DH feel when he found out?Again, your department. How did they tell their families?I have no clue on this one either. Maybe call everyone together for some big dinner or something or visit their parents and tell them in person? I don't know. Were their families happy? sad? angry? No idea. Lilith's was probably happy, especially Elanor and Jason.Anything else?We still need to pick a state. Any thoughts on the ones I chose or any others you'd like to put up for consideration?
