About the Macdonald Family:
The Macdonald family have only recently moved into Carrick Vale, they previously lived over in Dollar where John was a History teacher at a private school. After a disagreement with several staff members he decided it was best to look for a position at another school and he and the family moved to Stirling. Despite being the new teacher in a school where the teachers are rough and the pupils even rougher he loves his job.
Christina is a writer. Or she was. She hasn't penned a thing in 5 years due to one problem or another, but she hopes that a change of scenery will give her the boost she needs to get the ball rolling again. In the meantime she is enjoying being a stay-at-home mum to the new baby, Rhianna.
Sterling, Easton and Marley are all settling in fine and making new friends with the other children in the neighbourhood already. As a peace offering for making them move away from all their friends their parents bought them a cat whom they named Sylvester.

DDog: Friday
Benjamin Clark works as a policeman and doesn't get to see his family as much as he would like because of the shifts he has to work. Rachel Clark is an under-appreciated secretary for a law firm and likes nothing better after work than to relax on the couch with a glass of wine and her favourite soap on the telly.
Benji is a quiet boy and would rather sit in his room with a good book than play football with his brothers. Despite his constant good grades and behaviour his parents worry about him. Andy and Sam on the other hand have always been a boisterous pair. Sam is a toyboy and resents being the only girl, she even insists on being called Sam because it's less girly than Samantha. CJ follows the twins everywhere and has the same mischievous nature as they do.
As for the dogs, Nixon is really Benji's dog bought in an effort to bring him out of his room more often. It didn't work and Nixon now sleeps under Benji's desk in his room. Friday is a big, cuddly Golden Retriever and is the family dog, the twins named her Friday because they got her on... well, a Friday.

Antonio owns a themed pub in Edinburgh and despite employing a manager, he often catches a train into Ediburgh to check up on things.
Pilar works at the tax office, and doesn't really like her job. Just like she doesn't really like living in Scotland. But as long as her husband is happy then she doesn't mind so much.
Antonio's parents Alejandro and Renata are living with him in Scotland for a year. After that they plan on visiting his brother Miguel who now lives in Australia. They used to live in the Balearics and had never really left, except for occasional trips to mainland Spain. But they're old now and with both of their sons now living abroad they decided to use their savings and travel, see a bit of the world before its too late. So after spending a year in Scotland, then Australia they'll be booking Around-the-World flights as soon as possible!
Lena was always a loose cannon, so when she announced that she was pregnant at 16 it really wasn't too big of a surprise. Her parents worried that she wouldn't be able to cope, and that her boyfriend would desert her. Thankfully Scott has stood by her and they are looking for a council flat to move into so they can have their own space.
The other children are all very sociable and love to sing and dance. Mari is really excited because she starts High School soon and not even Desi's horror stories can put her off.

Gordon and Donna Ballantyne with their children Bryce, Florrie, Clyde, Iona, Struan, Alyssa, Shauna, Eilidh, Isla, Frazer, Blair and Mirren.
Gordon and Donna run a Scottish tour-bus business together. Donna deals with the business side of things while Gordon is more hands on in dealing with the staff. They frequently tour Scotland themselves with their family, which has recently become much easier now that Bryce can drive too. They rven decided to give the children the names of Scottish towns and islands as their middle names to honour their love of the country.
