Welcome Isaiah, Preston, and Chloe!
Isaiah is 7 years old and comes from Halifax, Nova Scotia. He loves to play hockey and baseball and gets along very well with others. He has no emotional, mental, or physical disabilities. He and his siblings were given up for adoption because their parents died in a car crash and they had no relatives who were willing to take them. Isaiah has been raised as a member of the United Church of Canada and is used to going to church every week. Besides playing sports, he loves dogs and road trips.
Preston is 5 years old and is Isaiah's brother. He is much quieter than Isaiah, but is a very warm, polite, and funny boy. He has no mental or emotional issues, but he has mild cerebral palsy which has garnered some teasing from the children in his old kindergarten class. He needs to know that he can still be loved even though his body isn't quite where others' are. He is extremely intelligent and his teacher in Halifax talked of bumping him up in school to join children of older ages. Preston loves playing with animals, reading, and would like to learn how to swim.
Chloe is 5 years old and is Preston's twin. She is emotionally, physically, and mentally sound. She loves to play with Barbie dolls and animals, playing dress-up, dancing, and singing. Chloe has always loved being the center of attention and was taking ballet lessons and voice lessons back in Halifax. She takes the opportunity to perform as much as possible. While going to church was not her favorite pastime, she has made many friends at her old Sunday School and wishes to contact them. She is excited to meet her new siblings and to make as many new friends as possible.
Please let us know how the kids are doing!

Welcome Misaki and Aria!
You got sisters Misaki (3) and Aria (1), from Nagasaki, Japan. Misaki is physically/emotionally healthy, but Aria suffers from a heart condition (atrial septal defect) which is mild. She will need further testing as she ages to determine if the problem requires surgery to fix or if she can thrive the way she is. Misaki has been raised speaking Japanese, but as she is young, she will be able to learn English quickly. She likes playing with dolls, being in the kitchen while cooking is going on, and being held. Aria is too young to have defined interests yet, but she seems to love it when Misaki plays with her. The girls came to you because their father died of cancer and their mother was unable to raise them alone.

Thank you so much for our daughters! Misaki is now 4 and Aria is 2.
Misaki is doing very well. Marina took one look at her and nicknamed her Kia, which has stuck. She loves to play with Marina's dolls, and we've started letting her help us cook sometimes. For her next birthday we're getting her a play kitchen. Kia is learning English very quickly and loves to talk.
So far Aria's heart defect has not needed surgery. Her doctors are impressed by how well she is doing. She likes to run and play, and has also discovered a love for coloring. She still enjoys when her big sisters play with her.
Thanks so much for bringing these wonderful girls into our family!

Welcome Marie, Euan, Olivia, and Goran!
Marie is 16 and seven months pregnant. Her original home was in Montreal, Canada. She was kicked out of her house when her parents learned that she was expecting. Marie is a sweet girl, but has a learning disability that prevents her from excelling in school. She makes friends easily and loves to interact with others, especially young children and elders. She no longer speaks to her parents and wishes to distance herself from her old family. She needs some patience as she works through her schoolwork, but will persevere until she is blue in the face. She loves 60s music, traveling, and shopping.
Euan and Olivia are brother and sister, ages 11 and 8. They are from Dundee, Scotland and speak both English and Gaelic. They are up for adoption because their parents and older sister died in a house fire. Euan is tall with red hair and freckles. Olivia is also tall and freckled, but has dark brown hair. Both siblings play the violin and love classical music. Euan loves trains and airplanes and also likes to build models of them. He does well in school and makes friends easily. Olivia is very interested in American culture and loves Barbie dolls and dress-up games. She also makes friends very easily and frequently writes to her best friend Isla. Both siblings are eager to begin school in London and to explore the city with their new family.
Goran is an infant from Skopje, Macedonia. His mother was single and did not want to keep the baby or risk an unsafe abortion. He does not know how to speak yet and will learn English as his first language.

Update on Marie, Euan, Olivia, and Goran

DD: Marie Yvette (16)
-DD: Louisa Charlotte (nb)
DS: Euan Arthur (11)
DD: Olivia Catherine (8)
AS: Goran Oleksy (1)
Marie is coping very well after the birth of baby Louisa. She's been attending a special school for young mothers with babies where the girls are taught their lessons at the same time as caring for their children. This enviroment allows for a lot more one-on-one tuition and Marie is flourishing. Her teachers have been very impressed with her hard work, dedication and noted improvement. She's also settling very well into our life in London. Marie and Blythe often go for girly shopping trips and spend their afternoons browsing through London's clothing and music stores before stopping for coffee. She's also started to learn to play guitar from Ben.
Euan is fitting into school very well. He's joined a modelling club wherehe has met many new friends and has been asked to join the school orchestra. The music teacher is particularly impressed by his talent and he is now learning to play piano as well as violin in school and practices very hard. At home he learns guitar with Marie and Ben.
Olivia has also settled in well. She's a regular at all the tourist spots and recently had a wonderful weekend when her friend Isla came to visit. They plan on exploring the city further when Isla comes to stay for a week in the summer. Liv has taken very well to being a little sister to Marie and aunt to Louisa. She often helps care for her little niece and Goran and plays make-overs with the incredibly patient Marie.
Goran is also coming on wonderfully. He's now walking well and has started to talk a little. Mainly he uses individual words ('mum-mum', 'papa', 'juice') but recently he's began to use short phrases as well like 'play ball' or 'hug please'. He's a real sweetheart and a joyous baby. He particularly likes playing with Flora the cat.

Welcome Hassan, Aisha, Omar, and Rashid!
Hassan is 17. He is from Beirut, Lebanon, and is up for adoption because his parents were killed by a suicide bomber along with his younger brother Ismael. Hassan is very intelligent and outgoing. He lost a hand in the suicide bombing, but has adjusted well. He loves animals, books, and until recently, playing with younger siblings.
Aisha is 15 and from Haifa, Israel. Her parents fled the country to seek refuge in Jordan and left Aisha to fend for herself. She is a very quiet girl who takes a while to open up to those around her, but once she does, it is impossible not to like her. She is very funny and loves to tell jokes. For most of her life, she has been a devoted student of the Quran. She hopes to continue with the religious lifestyle to which she has become accustomed.
Omar is 13 and hails from Tadmur, Syria. His parents could not afford to care for him anymore and gave him up. Omar loves school and learning, although he has a tendency to be a bit arrogant due to his high level of intelligence. He loves to strike up debates and would gladly spend all his time talking. One of his favorite topics is history, and he would like to be able to read and learn about Syria and the Middle East as much as possible, since his parents couldn't buy him books.
Rashid is 12 and also comes from Beirut. His parents could not afford to give him special care because he is blind. He left seven siblings behind him and misses them terribly. His family has expressed a desire to talk to him and visit, if at all possible. Rashid loves to play with animals and other children and doesn't consider his blindness an issue. He goes out of his way to make himself and others comfortable in any situation and always has a smile on his face. Rashid is looking forward to meeting his new family and to moving to Syria!

Shukran!
It's been a year.
Hassan is much happier. He loves Ismet and Sayyid and plays with them a lot. We have gotten used to his lack of a hand. It turned out to be his left hand, which he didn't write with, that he lost. Hassan is especially close to Sayyid because he is around the same age as his deceased brother Ismael.
Aisha opened up to all of us very quickly and tells jokes all the time. She loves when the older girls come to visit. She also takes religious classes often and attends the mosque with us when the others are unwilling to go.
Omar now has plenty of books, since we have a considerable collection of them, and he reads them all the time. His ability to be high and mighty was a concern. Now he is less arrogant and has lost his bombastic tone. He has learned all about the history of the Middle East. His debates can put everyone to sleep, though.
Rashid contacts his family regularly and we plan to visit them soon. He is feeling happy to be with Sayyid, who talks to him all the time and helps him walk. Rashid also learned to swim with us and enjoys the beach. He is glad to have brothers to relate to - most of Rashid's biological siblings are female.
"Shukran" means thank you in Arabic.
