Natalie Jewel is a 7-year-old girl from Camden, New Jersey. She has blond hair and blue eyes. Her parents couldn't afford to keep her, so they put her up for adoption. They would eventually like to see her. Natalie likes dolls, music, and candy.
Ashlee Tayler is a newborn baby from rural South Carolina. She has no hair and blue eyes. Her mother was 14 years old when she was born and was neglecting her. The baby daddy refused to see her. She has no interests yet.

Patrick is outgoing, but can be very loud. He likes football, talking, and dogs. He has a female dog named Mya, who gets along well with cats and dogs.

His family was originally from Tunis, but his parents were killed by terrorists there, so he was moved to Djerba. Ali broke his leg severely in the same attack and now needs crutches to walk. Carmen Ana is a 16-year-old girl from Guadalajara, Mexico. She has black hair and black eyes. Her parents couldn't financially support her when she was little, so they gave her up for adoption. She contacts them occasionally. Recently, Carmen found out that she was pregnant. She likes playing the maracas, dancing, and watching TV.
Xavier Louis is a 15-year-old boy from Reno, Nevada. He has brown hair and light brown eyes. His father left the family and his mother is too poor to take care of him, but would like to contact him. He likes football, rock climbing, and snowboarding.
All children speak English (as well as their native language if it's different), except Carmen, who speaks only Spanish.
