Re: You Say / You Think

"This is our daughter, Magnolia Jean. We call her Nola."
You Say: I probably wouldn't comment on the name at all, just one how sweet the girl was or something, but possibly say something about how original it was.
You Think: Magnolia? It does have an interesting sound I guess, but still very musty. Nola is a horrid old-lady sound. At least call her Maggie and let her grow into whether on not to use Magnolia. Jean is so tack-on from the 50s (or earlier!)"This is our son, Ignatius Ray. He goes by Iggy."
You Say: Wouldn't comment on the name at all.
You Think: YUCK! Iggy reminds me of Iggy Pop or of David Bowie (though that was actually Ziggy wasn't it?). Ignatius is WAY too much name to handle."This is our daughter, Juniper Agnes."
You Say: No comment
You Think: Juniper sounds like a cat name or something, and Agnes is too old!"This is our son, Horatio Kolbe."
You Say: If pressed I'd say something nice about Kolbe.
You Think: Horatio? For a sweet little boy?"These are our triplets, Joachim Edgar, Amias Quincy, and Agnes Roberta."
You Say: Nothing to say! Man.
You Think: I actually like Edgar as a mn. Amias Quincy is cool, but I'm not sure of everyday use. The others are just bad.
