Re: I love Cracker Barrel!
The only entertainment at our Cracker Barrel up the road is the minivan-loads of gawpin Ahia and Mitchigan families comin down the Innerstate who mob the place, buy up all the country kitsch in the store while waitin for a table, and then figure they've seen some authentic Southern country culture. Hehe!Hey, SJ -- what do they put in the meatloaf to make it so dense? Lead shot? Gotta admit I DO like the food when the mood strikes...- Da.

I'm afraid that I can't be of any help, there, Davidh. I have made it a point in life to NEVER eat anyone but my mother's meatloaf. It's just one of those things that vary too much in the crap people put in it. I can tell you though that Cracker Barrel has the *best* potato soup. And I love their brown gravy because they have big onions in it. Next time you go, give one of those a try. I do believe that they only serve potato soup on Wednesday's and Saturday's, though. At least that was the schedule for the one's in St. Louis . Which is usually consistant with the others, I know the daily lunch specials are the same throughout the country. :)Sarahjeanne

I like Cracker Barrel, too, though not to the extent of some of the Northerners (commonly referred to as "Yankees" and "Snow Birds") that visit us every December through March. It's just the same food I eat every day at home to me. NOTE: Nobody get all upset 'cause of the whole "Yankee" thing. I'm no Rebel, but I do have my southern pride and I can spot a Northerner a mile away. Usually by the way their socks are pulled up knee-high and are worn with sandals.***Congrats on the new snazzy server gig you snagged, Sarahjeanne ! It looks like a real nice place. I bet you'll do great! I really admire people who wait on people in restaurants. I try to be real nice and not make a fuss over every little thing. I could never be the one serving. I'd be fine for all of five minutes, and then I'd point them in the direction of the kitchen and say "Help yourself!"

Off-topic business brainstormingThe stockmarket in Greece is more excremental than ever (-4.17% today) and I think my days as a financial guru are numbered. Gotta open a franchise of some US company in Greece. Tried Victorias Secret but was turned down. Dont think Cracker Barrel would fly either, with all due respect to 'Cole :P
Well the last time I lived in the States was in '92, so I'm a bit outta touch. What's hot over there right now?

Well Nan , you obviously haven't done research on St. Louis style pizza because if you had, you would KNOW that Imo's is #1 !!! LOL I'll have to freeze one and send it to ya!SJP.S
Around here there are alot of Pizza Hut/Taco Bell's. It's kinda weird.

To use an out-of-date phrase, don't go there, Nan! Pizza ranks right up with religion and barnyard animal fetishes as topics we'd be wise to avoid on this board. It's a Pandora's Box with double cheese!!(besides, the best pizza in the freakin universe is made in a wood-fired oven by a coupla old Italian brothers in a hole-in-the-wall shop in the Preungesheim district of Frankfurt. I couldn't believe it was still there - and still as good - as I'd remembered it from when I'd lived in the neighborhood 25 years before, but it WAS!!)

Have pity! My mind is still numb from an overload of Science Fair and Liquid Plumber imagery.
