I took a college course called "Women in Antiquity." I learned that in ancient Greece, when women got pregnant out of wedlock, they would say that a god had impregnated them, so that instead of being looked at as a bastard, their child would be favored as a demi-god.
And wasn't the New Testament written in Greek?
