Re: Info on unusual name?
in reply to a message by Auvye
Sorry, but couldn't find any instance of use of that name, other than by a "Auvye Spear Burch" who appears in a genealogy on the 'net. Is this your Auvye?
If it is your Auvye (from Texas, and married in 1990), then I'm guessing that this is an invented name. Or possibly a variation of the name "Avery".
What makes you think the name is French, Dutch or Irish?

This is my Auvye, in Texas, but not married in 1990.
His father and grandfather also had the same first and middle name, but different last name (Trammell).
Auvye is unsure of his ethnic background, but for some reason thinks it may be French/Dutch/Irish.
I'm new to this.......where did you find the geneology info on the 'net?
Thanks so much for your info!

...longshot suggestions...
"Auvye" may be related to "Avye" an obsolete word recorded in the OED. "Avye" is derived from Old French "avie-r" meaning "to put one on his way, to instruct, inform, teach".

Maybe A French Version of "Oy Vey"?
