ArchivesName for son
I come from a very Irish family, whose kids names all start with the letter B. Wanting to keep this tradition, I want to name my son Bremen. I have seen the name in novels before (The first king of Shannara), and want to find out if there is any history to the name. If anyone can help me, it would be much appreciated.

According to former president of the American Name Society, Elsdon C. Smith, the name "Bremen" is a surname taken from the German town of the same name. It means "by the seashore".
Author Terry Brooks may have had other ideas as to the meaning of the King of Shannara's name, when he possibly pulled that name out of his head.
