Any idea what Uncas means?
I've only found two possible meanings so far -- "Bold" (1) and "Fox" (2) -- but I have no way to know which, if either, is correct.
Historically, Uncas (d. 1682) was the founder of the Mohegans (3), a Native American group based in Connecticut. Many places in the area (such as Uncasville) have inherited his name.
