I've been wondering how English/American people would pronounce the name Naemi (which is known in Germany). In German it's pronounced Nah-AY-mee, sort of.

I think that if most English speakers were confronted with this spelling and asked to guess the pronunciation with no other information, they would probably say "NAME-ee", with the first syllable just like the word "name".
However, most would also see this as a "foreign" spelling and could probably quickly learn to say nah-AY-mee if the German pronunciation was explained to them.
