There is an Ireland rugby international called Geordan Murphy. Perhaps my South African ears were trying to close themselves against the commentator's voice in self-defence (we lost comprehensively on Saturday, thanks for asking), but I really thought I heard a reference to Gordon Murphy ... there's a Gordon O'Grady I think, but surely Mr Murphy would pronounce his name like Jordan, with the Geor like the beginning of George? I'd always assumed it was a blended name ...
