A name I found recently...
In the book I'm reading at the moment (The Name of the Rose, by Umberto Ecco) one of the characters is called Adelmo- does anyone have any information regarding possible origins of this name? My best guesses are that it is either an Italian form of Adelmar (the book takes place in medieval Italy, so I'm certain it's an Italian name)or perhaps a masculine form of Adela. What do you think?

I'd say you're almost certainly right about Adelmar - it makes sense. Adelmar and Adela are from the same root word - adel, meaning noble - so that's not far wrong either. :-)
