Like on this site SILKE is usually explained as a Frisian short form of CAECILIA (Celia). But I have read that it is also used as a short form of GISELA.
Do you have any further information to confirm this?

Sounds very likely. Silke is also the Swedish word for silk.

Silk - that's interesting. Are you Swedish? Is Silke used as a given name in Sweden?
