Have to admit that I wouldn't tag a kid with a name like "Charles", either, Daividh. But the thing that confounds me is, why do parents insist on giving their kids names that they have no intention of ever using in the first place? I mean, if the intention is to honor a relative who bore that name, how much are they really honoring that relative by never actually using the name?
As for my never having parented any kids -- I've got a houseful of yappy, four-legged "kids", as you'll recall. And "Trip" would be a perfectly nifty name for any of them! It's an easy name to holler out the back door: "Heeeeeere, Trip! Get in the house, Trip! GOOD boy, Trip!"
Plus, I've got LOTSA 'sperience with "kids"!. Coz, as they say, dogs are just children who eat off the floor. :)
