In Sweden they are not used and I doubt they are used in Norway or Demnark. I've never heard them, although Torfinn is used as a male name (in Norway, I think).
Thor is the name of a god. Hall means "hall" or "flat rock" and "finn" probably means "a Finn; someone from Finland".
Thor is spelled Tor in Scandinavia and pr. TOOR (except in Iceland where it's spelled with a unique letter and pr. like th in "think", so Thor is pr. "thowr" in Iceland).
