Where does this name originate from????
This is an odd story...but my great great great grandmother was Cherokee and at age sixteen a sixty year old man got her pregant yea..I know it's disgusting yuck. Anyway she had a girl and they ended up having two sons also and even got married but one day out of nowhere my grandmother also known as Mary A. Brown...well(she waz adopted in a white family at age four because she waz abandoned by her people maybe by accident ..who knows?) her husband left who knows why? to where? but
left. All I know is she never saw him again. (niether did the children)
She ended up living w/ Grandpa Ricks who was in the civil war and Grandma Ricks for the rest of her life. One of her children married into our family thus that's how she is related. So anyway her long gone husband waz named Neamaninia Sparks. Now,according to history he waz a white man but by his name I think otherwise can you please tell me where this name originates from. Thank you.

Do you have more than one record with this name on it? If there is only one reference to this man, frankly I think the best explanation is that it is simply an attempt to write "Nehemiah" by someone who was not very literate.
