German female first name
does anybody know the meaning of the German female first name Sieglinde. thanks
Replies
Two meanings (one derivative) are shown on German-language name sites:
1) The name derives from Old German, from the elements "sigu" (victory) and "linde" (meaning a linden-wood shield). Thus, it would mean "shield of victory".
2) Another site may refer to Sieglinde as Siegfried's mother in giving the meaning as "die Siegzauberin", which is very cool. This would translate as "the sorceress of victory".

Sieglinde
"Sieg" means "victory". I think "linde" means mild. A beautiful name.

It's on this site but I've just noticed that it's listed wrong. That's what happens when you edit your website in the wee hours of the morning... ;)
